“Contiki tour noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2009

The location, reception and overall amenities, cleanliness was ok, for french hotels. Ive stayed in worse.
The staff were helpful and friendly, particularly the receptionist (morning shift!)
What we didnt like was the horrendous noise caused by Contiki Tours from their rowdy rude drunk and general unacceptable behaviour from their mainly Australian clients. So Ozzies wise up and get some respect in your lives!
The staff changed our room after one night of continual noise, yes all night long. Luckily the Contiki bus moved on to Nice, hurrah! and I pity les nicoise.
Its an average hotel and about the standard of a 40 euro hotel in regional france, so E60 was fair for its proximity.
Tip: Eat at Entrecote near the old quarter: best meal by far.

  • Liked — convenience to centre and trams, rail station

We had heard about all the strange things around the hotel but we have to admit that the neighborhood is changing quite a bit. Cool little restaurants, and it doesn't feel unsafe (and no white vans, except for one near the neighborhood). The rooms are small and the room was not heated until after a couple of hours after we checked in. However, the service was very nice and so was the breakfast. It was a nice small hotel that I would stay in while traveling on a petit budget.

  • Liked — Breakfast and friendly service (as opposed to what I had read)
  • Disliked — Cold and a bit moldy smell

This is my worst hotel experience ever!! I have stayed at a lot of differen hotels but I can say that this is the wors experience ever! The hotel staff does not know what service is. The rooms was dirty and smelled strange. It was spiders all over the room and it had probably been done nothing on the rooms since the seventies. All though it was cheap this is below any hotel standard. It can on it´s best be compared to a hostel. We had to change hotel. Best advice: STAY AWAY!!

We didnt stay here, but had made a booking through holidaycity.com which we canceled two weeks before we were to stay. The hotel still took our money from our creditcard and after many emails to and fro and contacting our bank claiming a fraudulent transaction we still have not been refunded. Total rip off. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Who gave this hotel two stars? The location in "Little Algeria" was O.K. as it is near everything but there was no service, the rooms were dirty and the bathroom was inadequately cleaned. Luckily we were only booked for a few hours between our train's arrival and a flight out.. The airport shuttle which I had expected when I booked the room wsa non-existent.

If I had known better I would have spent the extra 50 bucks and stayed somewhere decent... this hotel is positively awful. Greasy, paper-thin bedspreads, unsanitary sheets, creaky, funky windows... the carpet has never been vacuumed in years and the bathroom is poorly-lit and there is no shower curtain.

All the above you can find in Paris or Lyon and be forced to pay $150 for... that is if you're in a nice location.
Well STAY AWAY from this arrondissement of Lyon (the 3rd-4th) because it is basically a North African quarter, tons of kebab shops and everything is written in Arabic-- being a female, I was very distrubed walking on the street (avenue de marseille) and seeing ONLY arabic men standing around aimlessly, in coffee shops where there are NO women around. Men might not understand how it feels, but when you look around your street and see NO women whatsoever, not in the shops, bars, or cafés, you get nervous..I was sexually harassed pretty much non stop.

overall, stay the **** away from this property and go stay somewhere else.
