“Long weekend in Lyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Everything we required and a very comfortable stay at this hotel. Our room was clean with all essentials and very quiet with double glazed windows and black out curtains to stop city noise and light disturbing sleep. We particularly found the hotel was very convenient for transport links around the city with the station and the Rhone express link back to the airport only footsteps away. Wi-fi good although sometimes fiddly to re-connect. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast with its range of bread, cereals, fruit, yogurt and there was also meats and cheese available. Friendly staff ready to help when needed.

Hotel was very clean and good located. I enjoyed my stay very much. Right in the hotel is fancy restaurant. Prizes for accommodation and foot in the restaurant are a bit over prized. But in case you like this location and have no trouble with money, I can just recommend. Thank you for pleasure stay.

Booked a double room for 1 night at this modern, well appointed city hotel. Price was not the cheapest - try Ibis Budget for a lower room rate - but you get a good quality room at the Ibis Style. The room was well appointed and well lit with the all important light switches by the bedside ensuring you don't stub your toe trying to get back into bed after turning the light off - I am sure we've all done it and cursed!! The room design is bright and cheerful with a trendy 70's edge. The bed was of a good size with a nice quilt and extra pillows if needed. I found the mattress a little on the hard side for me personally but I slept OK. The room was quiet and the windows had curtains with blackout linings which ensured that the room was dark at night which is a real bonus when it comes to getting to sleep in a well lit city centre location. The bathroom was well appointed with a generous sized shower cubicle with plenty of hot water and, equally important, good water pressure on tap (sheer bliss after a hard day exploring the city sights!) The room had a quality flat screen TV fitted on the wall and space to hang clothes with sufficient hangers for our needs. Breakfast is served in the lobby. There is hot coffee, tea, fruit juice, bread for toast, baguettes, croissant, sliced meat, local cheeses, jams and spreads, everything you need to set you up for a day out in Lyon. But don't forget to leave some space for the wonderful cakes and food that is waiting for you in town!! The hotel staff were very helpful, spoke excellent English and kindly permitted us to leave our bags with them for the day (in the secure lock-up) whilst we explored the beautiful City that is Lyon.

Room Tip: Rooms have 2x double glazing so 'no' City noise from the street enters the room - wonderful

A well located hotel with on site parking & very close to the tram that takes you into the old city centre; the main railway station is a few minutes walk from the hotel. If you take a car to Lyon, parking is difficult to find & very expensive, so the hotel's discounted price is very competitive; the hotel, from a driver's point of view is not well sign posted & our arrival after dark made for a difficult arrival. The room was up to the usual very good standard that Ibis Styles' Hotels provide. Ensure that you check to determine if your chosen time clashes with holiday periods as this hotel becomes very popular.

Hard to find from the train station, only because of the railroad company insistence on alienating customers. The hotel is a stand alone building adjacent to the station (50 m walk) that houses a Mercure, Ibis budget and Ibis Styles (if considering the location, exit the station at one end: if you find yourself facing a huge plaza, turn around and exit from the other end, then turn right to the end of the street)
The room was adequately spacious for 1 person, with desk space, ample TV channels,
Bathroom was properly sized with a full size shower and a healthy water flow out of the shower head.
THe room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable, with a double set of windows that absolutely eliminates the noise from the train station below.
Breakfast was included and had plenty of everything needed for a healthy and satisfying start.
Location is really good (I had no car to worry about) with tram service to downtown, subway service close by and the old town within walking distance (well, walking from here to the old town is really a long walk, 3 km)
Free wifi, but I opted to cut off emails for the day. So, no idea of the quality and speed.
For the price, it beats the Mercure and from my experience with Mercure, Ibis Styles is a much better choice.

In August end we went to Lyon- Saint Gervais- Chamonix and stayed 1 night in this beautiful hotel. The mail reasons for selection was economic, excellent location( 5 mins from rail station, 1 min from airport Tram station). We arrived here from Lyon airport by Rhone Express tram. For this tram we took the advance e-tickets( 13.5 euro for adult) through Internet. It took about 30 mins to reach the last stop Par dieu(rail station) and hotel is just diagonally opposite to tram station.
There are 3 hotels in the same building- Mercure, Ibis Budget and at the end is our hotel.
We took a triple room (no 405) and were very pleased to have a nice and big room. It had a very big TV(probably 40”)
I feel we made the perfect decision by staying at this fantastic budget hotel for 1 night. The Hotel is located right in the heart of new Lyon and everything is available at your doorstep. Just outside the hotel , there are plenty of restaurants, shopping malls. The main railway station is 5 mins walk. The rail station has lot of food stalls including famous Paul bakery.
The breakfast meets the requirement. It had lots of fruits.
At the reception tea/coffee and cookies was always available free of cost.
Now come to the staff- I must appreciate that they were very helpful and friendly. The receptionist went out of her way to help us and gave us all the maps, directions and guided us in all respects.
The Wi-Fi speed was good.
The old Lyon where we had seen Cathedral, basilica, Roman ampi theatre and Gardens is only a short bus journey. We went by Bus C3 from the bus stop near the hotel to Old city. It took only 15 mins and fare was 2 euros.
We also kept our luggage after we checked out.
Overall we liked this hotel and will come back if we come to Lyon again.

The location of the hotel is not great for sightseeing, but it is 1/2 block from the main train station and a metro station - can easily get anywhere in Lyon from the hotel in just a few minutes (e.g. Vieux Lyon and Univ. of Lyon 1). The metro is 1.70 Euro per ticket, which is good for an hour of travel. The room was spacious and comfortable with a roomy shower (no tub). Very quiet. Free breakfast - the bread and pan au chocolat were excellent - fresh squeezed orange juice. The staff was helpful and spoke good English (at least at the front desk). The hotel is a modern style hotel. Although it was clean, comfortable, and friendly, it does not have the feel of a traditional European hotel. The roman ruins, basilica, Hotel de la Cite, and Vieux Lyon are all worth visiting.
