“Excellent hotel for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Excellent location in front of the Parc de la Tête d'Or (with a small zoo for children and a good place to walk or run) and near to the center (Opera, Mairie...).
Staff available, friendly and warm.
Free Internet connection, heavy breakfast, possibily to park your car (try to negotiate it for free)
Rooms large and perfect for families (one or two bedrooms+large living room, kitchen...).
A small fitness center quite pleasant.
=> probably one of the nicest place to stay in Lyon with your family (to my mind, the concept of "suites" is specificially suited to family needs but nice place for business customers also)..
I DO RECOMMEND (we came five times at different periods).

Dear “Guillaume D”,

I thank you for sharing your remarks with tripadvisor members and also for your loyalty towards the Warwick Reine Astrid. I’m glad to know that you enjoyed your stay and mainly the layout & size of our suite. It’s true that our location in front of the Tête d’Or Park is a real pleasure for the families, for the joggers and cyclists. It offers many possibilities with sport facilities, a zoo and botanical and rose gardens (free entrance) .Thanks you again for your nice recommendation.
Looking forward to seeing you in Warwick Reine Astrid on your next visit to Lyon.

Best regards,

I first discovered this hotel last year on a driving holiday from the UK to Tuscany. We were very impressed with it. It has the feel of a very well-established hoteland is in a great location. This year I decided to try and book in at the same hotel and approached it directly via its website. I was very surprised to fid that I ot an even better deal on the room than I got last year through an "online booking" company. The apartment was very large, very clean, beautifully furnished and very quiet. Last year the apartment was at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street with a lovely outlook. This year we had a room with a small balcony overlooking the garden at the rear of the hotel and with not so good an outloook but we were still more than happy wih it for our one night stay. We will definitely stay there again and in fact are considering a city break to Lyon in order to see more of this beautiful city and this hotel will be the one at which we choose to stay. I am sure that there will be other hotels in Lyon which are excellent but we will be more than happy to stay again at the Warwick Reine Astrid!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have a lovely view of the street.

This hotel was a variable experience, as the entrance to the parking & parking itself is a nightmare, however the hotel staff were very helpful & looks like used to having to assist. However seems there was lots of free parking on the street !!
The location is wonderful, right next to a amazing park ( even with a zoo) & close to the water with a nice walk to the town. The hotel is an converted care home, so the "rooms" are actually apartments, so the size is amazing, but the decor/ fixtures etc is old, & a little tired, but a comfortable experience. The breakfast was also good value. The staff however are superb, very helpful, patient & courteous & help make the stay memorable.

I read your remarks in regards to the parking with great attention. Rest assured that it has been taken into consideration and I am delighted to inform you that painting works were realized in the parking lot to make it more “welcoming”!
It would be an honour to have you back with us at the Warwick Reine Astrid.

Very elegant and luxorious hotel very close to 5 stars. The staff was very friendly and the wellness part was excellent with a gym, sauna and steam bath, unfortunately no pool. The room was big and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the city centre, which is a 10 minute walk. I was very pleased with the hotel, especially the staff because I left my shirt in the room and they sent it to me via post.

This suite/apartment hotel has a good location next to the Tête d'Or park, a beautiful and large park with lake. It has an underground parking, practical but really expensive. A bus line is at a few minutes by foot that leads directly to the Presqu'Ile, the city center of Lyon. By foot it is around 20 minutes.
The hotes itself has a nice lobby with a lovely backyard garden and terrace. Unfortunately they rooms didn't look as fresh. Although quite big and perfectly suitable for big families, the furniture, curtains and bathrooms really look old and tired. Also some scratches, windows that don't open correctly, blinds that don't go down etc. For our 2 nights stay this was ok but not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. The room price was decent, especially if you were, again, a big family that needs space. The breakfast buffet provided a good choice but service (probably summer interns) where quite slow and dirty tables tended to stay for a while.
To sum up a hotel that has passed the time for renovation but that provides a lot of space and friendly service, at least at the reception.

My girlfriend and I chose the Warwirk Reine Astrid for a stopover on our route Marseille-Brussels by car, and stayed there for a night. I was pleasantly surprised, as I mentioned in the reservation form that our arrival date falls on the anniversary of my girlfriend, subsequently we got a suite on the first floor, with a kithen, dining room and a 30 sq. m. terrace, overlooking the garden. Except the fact that wallpaints and kitchen equipment looked a bit outdated, it was a very nice room. Breakfast was spotless, so goes for the location (just next to the Parc Tête d'Or), underground parking, TV-channels (they had Canal+). I was a bit shocked though when I heard the price for Internet connection, I really think that a four star hotel cannot demand such exhorbitative prices for such a needed commodity. Besides this last point, I would overall recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Take a garden view room.

It depends what you are looking for. The hotel from out side looks like 2 star and lobby is tiny for a 4 star hotel but the suits are wonderful for the money you pay. Parc tete d'or aint attached with hotel but it's 100mtrs walk only..there is bus which passes every 15mins for main station or else you walk to brotteaux area where u can find everything. Metro Massena is abt 10mins walk. If you are going for many days it's good but for a day, it's a bit far from center unless you wanna enjoy the grande parc of lyon. Taxi roughly cost 10euro till the down town which is nothing compering paris, Geneva, Zurich etc. It' calme and beautiful room if u wanna be in couple though ;) bring some washing liquid and sponge and indoor slippers. But for a 4star hotel they could provide those minimum attentions. They have dish washer but again u need the washing powder cubes. over all it's good cause of great rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for the higher floor rooms if possible to avoid the vehicles noise as it's next to the road.
