“Clean, modern with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We were pleased with this hotel. It was an enjoyable stay and we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff upon arrival.

The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable.

The location of the hotel is a tad hard to find and a long walk from the train station. However the area surrounding it is quite friendly, quiet and away from the crowds.

I would recommend this hotel.

I stayed for only 'one' night in a studio room for a business trip, so can't tell much about this hotel.

The good part was:

- Big room with a small kitchen, which could be useful for longer stay or with family/kid
- Well located and very close to tram/metro stations

The worst experience was the sleep quality. I got a room on the road side on lower floors and motor vehicle noise was coming till mid night in the room, which was very irritating.

Another issue was the duct - every time someone was using the toilet on upper floors, the flow in the duct was very noisy and completely sleep spoiler.

Also, very limited options available for breakfast.

So, good for short stay but don't take the room on the road side.

PS: if you like Indian Food: just search on Google map for http://www.le-karachi.com/ ... Very good food

Room Tip: No road side room please...

1 km from main station. Nice lobby, helpful front desk personnel.. Room was adequate but en suite bathroom was inconvenient for those sleeping on comfortable sofa bed in lounge.
Well equipped kitchen but basic extras - tea, coffee, sugar etc missing.
Website mentioned complimentary toiletries, a soap dispenser doesn't meet this claim.
Wi Fi was available but we needed help to access, A good night's sleep was had by all and that was the purpose after a long, long flight. A good rang of dinner options around the corner.

Room Tip: Metal blinds kept out most of the street noise, check bathroom location if someone someone sleeping...

The good:
- Small 1BR Apartment with Kitchenette for price of normal hotel room.
- Comfortable sofa bed
- Quiet but still convenient area
- Free parking on the streets 7PM to 8AM.

The bad:
- Rather sad looking breakfast area
- Very small TV.
- No courtesy items at all (conditioner, bottle of water, etc.)

The ugly:
- Footsteps of tentants above were very noisy. Could hardly sleep.
- Toilet so small your knees hit the door.

The verdict:
We were glad it was only one night and are unlikely to return.
Definitely not recommended for more than a one-night stopover.

Room Tip: Upper floors are probably better so you don't hear tenants upstairs.

The young lady who checked us in on Sunday evening was so pleasant she explained everything and was very nice! The hotel was very clean and the room spacious. Using the map on my phone, the hotel was very easy to find. Very close to the famous market where we spent most of our mornings roaming all the stores and eateries. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Hotel Citadines in Pare-Dieu is not easy to find from the Gare Pare-Dieu. Even if it is quite close, it is not easy to find because the quarter is quite complex
The hotel is very calm and clean. The staff is efficient. The breakfast buffet is very simple.
The hotel is quite far for the old town. There are two restaurants near the hotel.

The hotel is across the street from the incredible food hall at Les Halle, and about a 15-minute walk from Gare Part Dieu, where the Rhone Express from from the airport drops you in the city. It is, however, a 40-minute walk from Old Town. So locational benefits will depend on your interest. Service will vary depending on who is at the desk: One receptionist over the weekend (hose name I forgot but she was half French half Algerian) was exceptionally helpful: she practically exuded hospitality. Another on Monday was just doing a job at her own good time. The room itself was fine.
