“Clean and good hotel but difficult location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2014

Hotel Citadines in Pare-Dieu is not easy to find from the Gare Pare-Dieu. Even if it is quite close, it is not easy to find because the quarter is quite complex
The hotel is very calm and clean. The staff is efficient. The breakfast buffet is very simple.
The hotel is quite far for the old town. There are two restaurants near the hotel.

The hotel is across the street from the incredible food hall at Les Halle, and about a 15-minute walk from Gare Part Dieu, where the Rhone Express from from the airport drops you in the city. It is, however, a 40-minute walk from Old Town. So locational benefits will depend on your interest. Service will vary depending on who is at the desk: One receptionist over the weekend (hose name I forgot but she was half French half Algerian) was exceptionally helpful: she practically exuded hospitality. Another on Monday was just doing a job at her own good time. The room itself was fine.

A shirt walk from the famous Les Halles markets. 10 min by bike to the old town centre. One would say it is convenient to everything in Lyon. The staff are fabulous especially Nora who was so helpful in translatiby when The airline lost my bags. a great place for business people or those that travel regularly and want to be out of areas that are too touristy

I stayed there for a business trip and like the principle of the hotel apartment. Here is my experience:

(1) Nice and helpful staff - really nice hotel staff. Available, and helpful.
(2) Room had a furnished kitchen, rather well-equiped with burners, microwave, fridge, cookware etc.
(3) Walking distance from la Part-Dieu and a huge shopping mall and grocery (Carrefour if I remember correctly). Otherwise, les Halles are juste at the door steps, Casino is opened late and just down two corners (down Servient toward the river) and there are a couple of other ones.
(4) There is a couple of local bistros around that are also ok
(5) There are a couple of cafés not too far
(6) Subway station Place Guichard 2 mins walk.
(7) Nice bookstore by the Place Guichard. if you like reading, and read French, nice alternative to the FNAC stores in la Part-Dieu.
(8) Beds are ok... linens are ok... Nothing fancy, nothing overly comfortable. Passable is the word.
(8) By North American standards its walking distance of many interesting places. If you are minimally healthy, walking from the hotel on Servient to the Rhône river takes 10 minutes at most and you end up in the Presqu'Ile area. So, yes walking distance from many places.
(9) Connecting from the Airport, to the shuttle, to the hôtel is manageable, but tricky. Trickiest part is from the Part-Dieu station/terminus to the hotel. The hôtel is on Moncey and ... on maps its a big tricky to figure out how this street connects. Nonetheless, its manageable if you circle around the massive Part-Dieu complex. We took a 10euro cab from the PArt-Dieu to the hotel. Totally unecessary, but after a long-haul flight + luggages, we thought it was worth it!

I recommend and would return.

Excellent hotel apartment with well provisioned kitchen and comfortable room. Very quiet and very comfortable bed. Apartment is well decorated with plenty of storage space. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly and spoke English. The location close to the mall is a shoppers dream but it is also walking distance to the railway station and we walked to the old city although for some this could be a bit if a trek. Wi fi was free and dependable.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel which overlooked a quiet street but the front of the hotel fro...

Being within easy reach of the Part-Dieu station (but not too close) determined the choice of this Citadines. The city centre and major sights are also within reasonable walking distance.

On arrival, the whole place seemed a bit gloomy, particularly the narrow grey corridors, but the almost 48 hours of incessant and unseasonable rain during my stay may have coloured my outlook.

In fact, Citadines Part-Dieu turned out to be an absolute haven.

My only other experience of Citadines was Les Halles, Paris last year. The basic format here is similar but the space of the Studio Club rooms is much more generous. And at a much keener price.

After almost 3 weeks of regular hotels and dining out it was wonderful to be able to prepare food and enjoy it in the comfort of my room. As others have noted, food supplies abound nearby.

Efficient reception and housekeeping, good Wifi, being able to do your own laundry were all pluses.

And, despite the rain, each day started on a positive note with a good breakfast overseen by a cheery lady who ensured that all who pass her way were fed as if they were family. Merci Madame.

We are so glad that we chose this hotel in Lyon. We stayed for 3 nights. The location is great - near Part Dieu train station and near the tram service that runs through the city. The staff is patient and helpful. Les Halles market is located across the street, I love the Citadines family of hotels for the nice rooms and kitchen facilities. I look forward to returning to this location,
