“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012 via mobile

Good Hotel in central position in Lyon. Been here for just one night. Room had a great view on the Rohne. Main touristic attractions are just 5 minutes walking from the hotel. Concierge recommendet a very nice restaurant. Minibar was free! Internet as well! Perfect for a short business stay in Lyon!

The staff here are wonderful. As we were staying on our honeymoon they sent us up a welcome platter of sweets. We also had an issue with our hire car which the concierge kindly resolved for us.

The room was lovely with a very comfy bed and lots of white linen and an enormous shower with great pressure. The lifts were a but slow/ confused and apparently there was a pool but it was out of order. The view from the upstairs bar is amazing and they have iPad menus which was pretty cool. Breakkie was lovely too and we enjoyed looking out at Lyon and up to the church on the hill.

It was a little way from the main sights but we enjoyed the walk especially given all the great food in Lyon!

Would definitely stay again if given the chance.

We were attending a medical conference in Lyon and spent 3 nights at the Sofitel.

There were several very positive aspects:

The beds are wonderful...the llnens , the mattress , perfection!
The Hermés toiletries....need I say more?
Patrick , the concierge. A delightful , truly helpful concierge. An asset to the hotel.
The lovely breakfast on the 8th floor , with amazing views . However , the breakfast is very quite expensive .
The location- impeccable. The views of the river , the walkability to all principal attractions , very nice.
The free beverages in the mini-bar. Nice touch!

Negatives-
We had a room on the 5th floor , which obviously was one of the older rooms. The decor is tired and really needs updating. I peeked at the other floors , and they looked much more modern.

The strong perfume smell in the lobby..they need to tone it down.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel , but ask for a remodeled room.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room

Words cannot express what an incredible hotel this is.

The location is superb, about a 7 to 10 minute walk to the main square. There are many restaurants, a post office, metro, bus station and tourist information center. ( If you are going to be in Lyon for more than two days, purchasing the Lyon card is a good idea.)

The room was spacious, extremely clean, the mini bar was complimentary, and Hermes toiletries in the bathroom. The beds were super comfortable, and the sheets were so soft. I wish I could have taken the beds with us. There was also turndown service at night, and free wifi if you don't need a lot of bandwidth.

The staff was lovely, from the cleaning staff to concierge to the front desk. I have even seen such excellent service and they worked as a team.

I would stay here again and again! Excellent, top notch service.

The Sofitel is well situated in the centre of Lyon near the river. The hotel is very smart, the beds are wonderful and you are cocooned in their fantastic feather pillows and beautiful linen. You can actually buy the whole package ! Breakfast is very expensive at 26 euros each but is very good with stunning views over the city and river. It is easy, however, to find little bistros very close to the hotel. It is very close to the Rue Victor Hugo and the river and easy to walk to the old town from the hotel. It has underground car parking which is very useful. Rooms are air conditioned. Very helpful concierge etc. Beautiful luxury shops in the hotel including a stunning florist, hairdresser and designer clothing.

Room Tip: No need to pay the extra for river views if you chose a room i.e 606 which is on the side of the hot...
