“Effortless -best kept secret in Courchevel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

I'm an American and have been vacationing at HDN for years. Last December I booked a last minute skiing holiday. I was not disappointed. Great food and amazing quality of the staff. Marie the person in charge at reception was very efficient and particularly helpful in providing a room that suited exactly our needs. Thanks to her a simple skiing holiday was turned into a most relaxing and pleasurable experience. There is a spa area complete with sauna and swimming pool and your skis are ready for you in the morning and put away upon your return. The hotel is ski-in ski-out and and they now how have a ski-room in house. I can strongly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an effortless skiing holiday in a prime Courchevel location.

I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The service is fantastic and the location is superb. The hotel has an excellent bar and a nice ambiance. Great views from the rooms.
They were extremely helpful and re-arranged my travel due to the closure of air space and provided me a room for an extra few days for which I am very grateful.

We booked a last minute week's skiing holiday with Crystal Finest staying at the Hotel Des Neiges. From the moment we arrived to the day we left we experienced fantastic service from every member of staff at the hotel - nothing was too much trouble. The 2 guys in the ski room were exceptionally helpful, they put out our skis everyday and helped us to put on our ski boots and were there to help take them off after a full days skiing. The food was superb and the only problem with the evening meal (5 courses) was trying not to eat too much! The hotel has an excellent location on the Bellecote piste. The only slight negative was our room was quite small and had no tea or coffee making facility but it was very clean and very comfortable. Overall a really excellent hotel -thank you for making our stay in Courchevel so memorable and we will certainly be recommending your hotel to friends and hope to be back next year.

Stayed at this charming hotel for a week in March 2007. Excellent service all week right from the very warm welcome. Our deal included half board and the food was of a very high standard. Each night the menu included soup, a choice of three starters, a choice of two main courses and then a dessert buffet. Food presentation was excellent and the waiting service superb. There was also the benefit of a wonderful wine list starting at about 25 Euros upwards.
Breakfast was buffet style with all the usual cereals, fruit, yogurts, breads, pastries and cooked items.
Our room was described as deluxe and although not large had excellent space for hanging clothes, a flat screen tv, mini-bar and a king-size bed. A previous review of this hotel commented on the beds and we have to agree that the beds are very firm, but certainly did not prevent us enjoying a good nights sleep after a hard day's skiing. The view from our balcony was partly blocked by other buildings and a duvet would have been preferable to sheets and blankets but these slight irritations were compensated by the cleanliness and charm of the room.
We treated ourselves to a one hour massage each which was good, if a little pricey at 110 Euros. The swimming pool water was a little cool for us and there was no hot jacuzzi for soothing tired muscles.
The ski room was well equipped with boot warmers and the service by Pasqual is excellent. He drove us to the ski hire shop on the first day, cared for our skis all week and then returned them for us.
We would highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and food. It remains a very traditional hotel but has the benefit of up to the moment facilities. Courchevel certainly does not disappoint either with its huge ski area.
Also I should add my husband does not speak any French - but this was not a problem as all the staff spoke excellent English.

We stayed in a 'superior room' for a week in this half-board hotel. The service / staff in this hotel makes up for most of the annoyances with the room.

+ Staff is very friendly and courteous
+ Restaurant staff & food is great for a half-board hotel
+ Ski in - Ski out hotel. The hotel is located ON one of the slopes
+ Everything is clean, although they seem to miss attention to detail

- Beds are too short (180cm / 6 ft long!)
- Pillows are hard; like sleeping on bricks. Bring your own!
- They don't give you fresh bottled water every day
- Heating in our bathroom was broken and wasn't fixed for at least three days
- They missed an attention to detail (several light-bulbs in the hoel were broken and not fixed until we mentioned it, their cleaning staff should notify someone to fix things that are broke)
- They tried to make us pay for something from the minibar which we did not take. Probably they didn't check the inventory before we came to the room.
- You have to shower in the bathtub. The spraysheild is mounted on the opposite side of where you stand though, making the floor wet, cold & slippery. Not very well thought-through.

All in all, if it weren't for the staff, we wouldn't have stayed for as long as we did. We did however, leave a day earlier (no refund) as we slept incredibly poorly. We were glad to be home.

When we return to Courchevel, we won't be staying at Hotel des Neiges.

  • Liked — The location was awesome - right on the slopes!
  • Disliked — The room, the bed, the pillow, the smell of the room.

Hotel des Neige is unique. I know what I am talking about, I am French and I have been going to this hotel since I was 6 years old. I am now 33.
It is an old style chalet that is just as old as Courchevel 1850. The owner remained the same for decades and sold recently but this has allowed further cash investments and improvements. The hotel now has a swimming pool and spa. But the main thing about this hotel is the service and the location. The hotel manager Bernard Dessum has been working there since before I was born and he goes the extra mile to please you. The food is amazing: frogs legs, foie gras, lobster if you wish, and at no extra cost.
My personal favourite about Hotel des Neiges is the terrace. It is south facing and when it is sunny, I don't know of a better place to eat, drink or relax in Courchevel. It is isolated by trees but still you can put your skis on and shoot off as you are directly on the slopes.
I shouldn't tell you all this, I don't want the hotel to be sold out when I next ring up!
