“Nice hotel with friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

Nice hotel with friendly staff. It is in the middle of everything. Room was good, warm and clean. There was also a balcony with a nice view of the mountains. Hotel is 100 meters away from the slopes which I found very comfortable. Breakfast was simple, but had everything you need. Nice bar and pool table to play. It is a good value hotel for sure. I will stay there again. Big thank you to two wonderful girls at the desk, who worked there in January 2012.

This is a great budget hotel in the non-budget Courchevel 1850. Rooms good and clean, en suite kept to a high standard. Bath available with limitless hot water so you can have a soak after a hard day's ski-ing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Happy hour in bar is 5-7 and is the cheapest drinks in Courchevel. Although very central, it is also very quiet. Breakfast adequate with excellent croissants as you would expect.
If you come to Courchevel to ski and don't expect a luxury spa and pool, this is the hotel for you.

This is a very simple hotel/b&b but right in the heart of Courchevel 1880 which itself looks like Harlow in the snow but is in the heart of one of the worlds top ski locations. I was on a lads quick Ski weekend at the end of the season. The room was large by french ski resort standards, had a balcony, shower worked well ,nice toileteries, the room was serviced daily and an effort was made for breakfast, again by french ski resort standards, much better then the Bluets hotel next door which was more expensive where others were staying. The English (1french) staff were laid back but friendly.

Investment could be made in the quality of the bedding which was thin and not all natural fibres and possibly the tv however I am not sure how many people watch french tv on a skiing holiday. There are no facilities other than a bar/ breakfast room as you may expect. You can't expect the staff to get up early for you they will be paid fairly little but repaid in skiing which in turn keeps the price down for you. If you want room service stay at the Byblos etc..
The main gripe was nothing to do with the Hotel and I had suffered from in 1880 before. For some reason the Mayor seems to think it is reasonable to empty the poubelles daily just before 6.00am and if that has not woken you from your slumbers then the crack street cleaning machine arrives and repeatedly cleans the same bit of street . The cacophony is unbelievable. There is a by law that there should be no deliveries before 7 am(supermarket opposite) which is also flouted in typical Gallic fashion depite a nearby Gendarmerie. This effects the whole centre of town and may affect your decesion to come to 1880 altogether if you are troubled by noise.

Room Tip: worried about noise give up the view & go rear

Ok I've read the Negative reviews and they're rubbish. There's no noisy bar over the road that keeps you awake, I know - we looked for it. The decoration is white/magnolia not hideous as described.

The staff are really friendly and helpful and the bar/breakfast room is traditional ski town.

The location is ideal, 100 metres from the slopes and lifts. The security is not shoddy, it's like fort knox to get into the boot room. I've read about the leathal gloss painted stairs down to the boot room, yes they exist, so don't be a muppet and use the lift.

There is pleanty of hot water and the only negative is that there was no bracket to hang the shower head up while you were in there.

The rooms are clean and tidy and the breakfast is the same as any continental offering. Drinks are also cheap by Courcheval standard.

We went with Crystal. Due to evacuating everyone from Tunisia getting there wasn't the best journey but all credit has to be given to Dave our rep who still had our lift passes with us by 8am on day one even though he didn't make it tback to resort until 4am.

If you have cause to moan about the hotel then to be blunt you go for the skiing not to sit in your room or reception and you need to put a bit more effort in to seeing some of the 600km of pistes!

Firstly you have to remember that 1850 is one of the most expensive ski resorts there is! But also one of the best for skiing which is what we went there to do. This hotel a small stones throw from the pistes that connect to the biggest connected skiable area in the world!! And also very centrally located in 1850 for shops and restaurants and if your feeling flush, and not to tired after the skiing, the clubs. We booked on-line last minute and arrived in the afternoon on a Friday, we didnt realise that during the week the reception is closed between 12 and 4 and check-in is from 4, however we were lucky and bumped into the manager who was more than helpful and let us into our room early. The room was bigger than we expected with a nice view over the mountains and a very comfy bed. We spent the first afternoon sorting out our skis and having a look around 1850s boutiques and designer shops. Then headed to the hotel bar for Happy Hour which is a far cry from some of the prices we had seen around town.
Along with the cheap drinks we also got a whole lot of local knowledge for our skiing the next day, where to go, where the good snow is and where to eat,, Breakfast the next day was a bigger continental breakfast than we expected, good coffee, fresh bread, fruit and a selection of other bits and bobs to set us up for a good days skiing!! And what a days skiing,, practically nobody on the pistes, and excellent on piste snow. That night we were reccommended a good cheap restaurant in 1850 (not many to choose from) just around the corner from the hotel, early to bed to do it all again the next day!!
We will definatly be back, we didnt even scratch the surface in 2 days.
All in all, thanks to all the staff who really made this short break a brilliant one!!

A great option for anyone on a tight budget looking to go to this luxury resort. We couldn't believe how central it was, only few minutes from the piste. Its not the biggest place, the bar is a little small, but this just adds to the warm atmosphere. The staff were the happiest and friendliest around and made our holiday a dream. Nice and clean, some of the furnishings are a little dated, but who cares about the looks when your there to ski!

This was our first ski trip in Europe and we were pleased that Johnno/Jonny (can't remember his name!) and his staff were able to assist us with any enquiries that we had.
Rooms were clean and tidy and the hotel on the whole was very comfortable.

Would recommend to anyobody wishing a pleasant stay in Courchevel to give this place a go.
