“Luxury on the slopes comes at a price (don't try and justify it!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Our family stayed in the hotel during the Easter 2013 school holidays and we were amazed by how empty the hotel was. The price of the rooms was very expensive. It worked out at approximately £1000 per person per night half board. The hotel is located in a fantastic location and really is a luxury experience. The food for breakfast and dinner was outstanding and the desert buffet was excellent. We had connecting rooms on the 1st floor (too near the lifts) rooms 108/109. The rooms are very luxurious but small. For this price you would expect larger rooms. The bathrooms are high quality with Hermes toiletries and free sample cosmetics! In the wardrobe were quilted branded jackets (a gift) for the parents. Champagne awaited us in our room on the first night as did chocolates etc Every evening at turn down the house keeper would leave a little gift. The hotel has its standard dining room where the food is excellent. If you are on half board you are presented with a set menu with a single choice per course. You can choose from the a la carte menu but some dishes will come at a premium. The Michelin 2star restaurant is outstanding but the food is very rich and not great for kids. The cheese restaurant is very good and makes a change from the main dining room. The ski room is well equipped and the ski technicians are very helpful. Ladies have their boots put on and taken off! There are coffees, biscuits, water, tissues etc all on tap in the ski room for before or after your thrills on the piste. The concierge desk was very helpful with lunch time restaurant bookings etc and the spa was very nice. One word of warning. The massage I had was 200 euros and was terrible. The person giving it was disinterested and the outcome was very poor. That said the hotel overall was excellent. Very, very expensive bit excellent. What do you expect in a 5* hotel in Courchevel! and I was only handed a Russian menu by mistake one during our stay!
Restaurants on the slopes are great with our favourites being: Le Cap Horn, Bel Air and Chalet des Pierres.

Room Tip: Try and get a room above the first floor and overlooking the Cheval Blanc Hotel or the piste. Rooms...

This was the most amazing ski holiday we have had! From the food, (OMG should have michelin rating) to the quality of staff, to the spa area which was just gorgeous, to having your skis ready for you in the morning and put away for you upon your return. The only negative thing about the hotel was the room size which was smallish, quite common in Europe. If you can afford this hotel, I can strongly recommend it!

Within an hour of parking our hire car outside the front door of this delightful hotel, we were skiing! We were given a warm welcome, ski pass photos were immediately taken and we were shown to our room. It was not overly big but was spotless, finished with chalet-style wood and looked out onto the piste. As soon as we had dropped the suitcases we were shown to the ski hire shop in the hotel fitted with skis and boots that greatly improved our skiing for the week.
On returning after a perfect afternoon, our skis and boots were collected on piste and our day shoes were waiting for us. This happened every morning at evening without fail.
The swimming pool, steam room, sauna were of exceptional quality with large, airy windows looking out on to the piste.
We would not generally choose to eat hotel food, but in the case of Les Airelles it was a good move. Our only complaint was the price of the house wine, £25 minimum, but we found a reasonable one on the second night and stuck with that. There were many "Abramovichs'" there and to these Russian friends the Chateau Latours did not seem to pose a financial threat!
Large log fires at dinner time and warm friendly staff all the time.
Perhaps you are waiting for the, but.......
There is no but.
Yes it was expensive, but worth every euro!
If you visit on the strength of this write up, you will be happy if you get even 75% of the delight we got from our visit.
