Genepi is a lovely little restaurant in the heart of Courchevel 1850 opposite the Chabichou. The restaurant entrance hosts a petite little seating area where guests can peruse the menu and have an apéritif. the only issue here is that if a lot of diners descend at the same time there is a squeeze for space and shortage of chairs. However that niggle aside there is a roaring open fire and a great selection of canapes.
The menu is extensive (both food and wine). When I ate here I started with Escalopes de Foie Gras de canard poêlé,tranche de farçon (38 EUR) and followed with steak, Filet de Bœuf poélé,échalottes confites à la Mondeuse, gnocchis au beaufort at 42 EUR. Both were cooked to perfection with the foie rich but not heavy. The filet literally melted and the gnocchis again light but packed with flavour. Genius cooking.
Downside - this is expensive, not by Courchevel standards which are typically stratospheric. BUT if you want an excellent, flavoursome meal in a lovely cosy surrounding in the heart of Courchevel this has to be on the list. Thoroughly recommended - just save up before you go or find a friendly oligarch.
