“Very nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2008

My husband and I stayed in Hotel Les Cretes Blanches for 3 days. It is conveniently located in the middle of the town and we could go back to the hotel to take a short rest in the middle of the day during our stay.

Since the weather was unstable on the 2nd day of our visit, we wanted to make most of the 3rd day by going out early. This was made possible only with the help of Laura, who let us check out a day before we leave and promised to take care of our lugguage since we left our room even before the reception opens.

A BIG thank you to Laura!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Cretes Blanches for 3 nights in January. The hotel is off the main drag, but in easy walking distance to everything. The lobby was small but quaint. It had a nice ceramic stove, but it was never actually lit while we were there. Our room was very clean and had a nice bathroom. But the room itself was TINY! The bed pretty much took up the whole room, with little aisles on either side and at the foot of the bed. After 3 nights, we were starting to feel claustrophobic. The room did have a nice balcony with a view of Mount Blanc. Also, right next to the Super U so it was easy to pick up some staple foods. If you were out of the hotel all day, skiing or what not, I think this hotel would be great for you. It has just what you need: a nice shower and a warm bed. My husband and I ended up getting sick here, so we were in our room more than usual. I will say that the front desk staff were very helpful. I bought soup for my husband and they generously heated it up in a nice bowl for him and even saved the extra in their fridge for me.

Very hard to find for tourists, in the middle of a pedestrian street.
it's located in the backyard of the Impasse du Genepy. We had room 105, not a great view outside. Maybe the other rooms does. The decoration of the room has nothing to do with the ones on the web site. The room is very small but I had no problem with that. Outside has such a better view. Clean bathroom. Very dark passage to get to the room. Nice breakfast area. Very central. I wouldn't go back again.

  • Liked — Very central.
  • Disliked — Very basic room. Not such a view on the first floor. Not as cosy as expected.

Nothing fancy but clean, nice, very alpine and in a great location in Chamonix. The staff was very helpful. We walked everywhere in Chamonix because it was so centrally located, although the hotel was very quiet. The children enjoyed the bunk beds and we had a Great view ( Mont Blanc !) out our windows. Breakfast was pretty minimal.

I have just returned from a 10 day trip to France which concluded with a three night stay at the Cretes Blanches hotel in Chamonix. I was travelling with my partner and her 10 year old son. The hotel was very centrally placed, but up a quiet side street so noise was never a problem. We were greeted by 2 english speaking staff and showed to our room. The room had uninterrupted views of Mont Blanc and Aiguille du Midi cable car as well as many other peaks and glaciers. The family room was on the 3rd floor, but there is a lift so this isn't a problem. The room also had crisp white sheets and a very modern bathroom with a power shower. Hint, rooms on the second floor have a small balcony so you can sit and admire the views!! Breakfast was 7 euros extra, but well worth the price with cereals, bread and croissants, cheese and ham, yoghurts, fresh orange juice etc etc. There is no parking but we were directed to a free car park, only a five minute walk away. Thoroughly recommend this clean modern well placed hotel.

  • Liked — Central location, very clean, well decorated.
  • Disliked — No parking, but not really a problem

Recommended by family member who lives in Chamonix - we went to Chamonix for a big weekend family occasion.

Staff not totally local - none we met were French but very friendly.

Lots of English speakers amongst the staff.

Nice room. Quiet. Good breakfast

- and that's all we really wanted - we were only staying overnight..

Great for a short stay because its so convenient to the centre of town.

  • Liked — Comfortable, quiet
  • Disliked — Not much

After staying in 4 other hotels around France, this was such a luxury! We (me and best friend) were originally booked into their sister-hotel, Hotel Le Chamonix, right down the street, bhut were not provided with the room we reserved two months before hand. The lady on staff, althought really rubbed me the wrong way, I must say she did take care of the situation. We were able to get a room (a no show) at Cretes Blanches, and although it was a Quad room, we were given our original price of 72 euro a night. Plus we were given free breakfast (which was absolutely delicious in the GORGEOUS breakfast area) for our troubles.
It's funny how things that seem like a huge pain at first (us getting a VERY blah room at the first hotel, with no view, colors and barely any sunlight on a Fourth floor walkup) end up being so great. Cretes Blanches has a lovely courtyard, with lots of flowers, and they clearly take pride in their property. Our room was HUGE (maybe wouldn't seem so for four people, though) with a modern bathroom, heated towel warmer, full sized tub (I was finally able to take a bath and soothe the sun baked skin I got in Nice the day before!), and THE MOST INCREDIBLE VIEW of Mont Blanc. Seriously, incredible!!!! This was room 315 by the way. There is no AC, but the nights get cooler, contrary to what an earlier reviewer said- it is the mountains after all. The British staff was friendly, but Helen was the real charmer. She's awesome!!
Rooms very very clean.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and think it is far above the two star rating it has.
Also has an elevator.
