Although this hotel is centrally located right next to the train station, it simply wasn't worth it. There are other hotels in the same area that are better, and less money or equivelent in price. The rooms are in desperate need of updating. They have a "1970's" look and feel to them. They do not have a cozy or quaint ambience. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and be gone it will suffice. The breakfast which was not included was horrendous. Gave it a second chance on the second morning with the same outcome. The scrambled eggs were literally ice cold and watery. The bacon/ham as in most parts of France was raw. For all the talk about croissants in France, what they served was pathetic. Small croissants that looked like they were in a pillsbury tube that you stick in the oven. Not pastry fresh, not even a normal size croissant. On top of that the coffee was cold as well. We asked for an espresso which the french woman refused to serve us. She said they didn't have an espresso machine. We found out later from the manager that they do indeed serve espresso. The woman basically did not want to be bothered with "english" speaking people. On top of everything else there were an abundance of flies landing on the food. I would think a fly swatter could solve the problem by the staff before setting up, but maybe the flies don't bother the french as much as americans. Overall, I would definitly not stay in this hotel again. This was my second visit to Chamonix, and there are plenty of other places to choose from that have charm, ambience and are just as centrally located. And where you can at least get a croissant !
