“Great hit with the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Just returned from a week skiing in Chamonix where we visited this restaurant about 3 times. The kids loved all the little extras, a flasing pendant, ice cream served on an elephant, parrot, parate stands, sweets etc. The food was very good too, we enjoyed every meal, good quality and choice of drinks and very reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and would highly recommend.

“Excellent family run restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

Probably travel to Chamonix 4/5 times pa . Have eaten here at least two dozen times ,always good quality food at a fair price . Great for families with children . Need to book before 5pm to be sure of a place . Busy all year round . One of the best if not the best in Chamonix . It's not trying to be a Michelin star establishment but does offer a great meal for a fair price .

“Boys Lunch, without a Mountainous Bill.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

After a trip to Aiguille de Midi and the effective summit of Mont Blanc; we came down hungry and looking for a late lunch. Chamonix is teaming with different types of restaurants so whilst I dealt with some business matters, my two adult sons did the due diligence as to where we should eat. Le Boccalatte was chosen and at around 15:00 Hrs we sat down to lunch. The Menus arrived promptly and we decided that we would go for the Menu of the Day - Menu Savoyard. This consisted of Gizzard Salad which was tasty and enjoyed by us all. My two sons opted for the Cheese Fondue which was served piping hot along with Charcuterie and Bread - Both commented that it was of good quality and generous in portion. The Charcuterie is effectively various cold meats with some pickles. I chose the Tartiflette Melted cheese over sautéed potatoes etc. All was of good quality served promptly by Francois who spoke excellent English. We had a glass of Afflgem de Noel beer - a local brew which was cold and just what we wanted after our trip to the Mountain.
After the main dish - puddings were offered as part of the €18.90 Menu deal. My sons had the ice cream of which they had 18 flavours to chose from! They both professed the ice creams to be very good the Mint Choc Chip was especially worthy of mention. I on the other hand asked if I could substitute my pudding for an "expresso" coffee. Francois readily agreed and indeed gave me a complimentary cognac to round off the meal.
We all enjoyed our lunch and indeed left the restaurant full and replete.
In summery: we would all go again and indeed whilst writing this, my sons have been amazed at some of the other reviews written here. Of course we were not party to these visits, but maybe they learnt their lesson?
Either way it is well worth a visit.
