Whilst I agree with some of the points made by previous reviewers, I fail to comprehend the universally glowing reports of other guests.
Certainly, Becky & Todd were excellent hosts and great company and the food & wine was good, but there were other issues that undermined the experience.
First and most importantly, the chalet is neither convenient for the slopes nor for the town. Agreed, a transfer service is provided by the chalet company, but this is available for one trip into and one trip out of town every day. Our first couple of attempts to use this service were thwarted due to the absence of a driver at the allotted time. This would have been fine except that the bus service into town runs only every 30 minutes, and stops completely before 8pm. Thereafter we found ourselves at the mercy of the local taxi service which we found to be both unreliable and expensive. Should you opt for the walking option to return to the chalet, you are looking at just under 1/2 an hour from the town centre and 20 minutes from Chamonix Sud. This proved to be something of a disincentive for us to go into town and experience the apres ski.
On the plus side, the rooms were clean and tidy, the hot tub was great and the 500+ films available to guests was a bonus. For those of you who anticipate skiing during the day and then retiring for the night to the chalet, then this is the place for you. If you intend to be a regular visitor to the pubs and clubs in the town then I suggest you stay a closer to the centre.
