“Saves the aching knees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Great way to reach the top. We used this lift to get us back down following our walk to Lac Blanc - saves the aching knees

“Best thing all week!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We spent a week in Chamonix and this was my favourite thing. Why? If you have a Multipass you don't have to queue, the cablecar is smooth and scenic and then you arrive at a beautiful spot with a new Alpine Garden under development (if well received they will develop it further and make it bigger and better in future years). The snack bar does the best crepes in Chamonix, and then there is the chairlift. There are few chairlifts open outside the ski-season, so this one to L'Index is a delight and very exciting for children. The views from the top are even better, and there is snow you can play with! Stunning views and just beware of the smelly goat droppings! The staff on is cablecar and chairlift were fun and pleasant, quite different from all the others. There is something special about La Flegere Cablecar and Alpine Garden, so go and see it!

“We took this up to L'Index chair and made the four hour hike down!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Get up EARLY. beat the crowds so you don't feel like you are hiking on the highway. We got up and out early, packed a lunch and on our way down saw TONS of people making their way up. It's just not as much fun with lots of people walking at your heels or blocking the path in front. The hiking paths are narrow...

“What to do”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

After taking this cable car you can walk back to Planpraz. Stunning views but don't take any notice of the guide time in the guide books. 2 1/2 hours, not 1 1/2 as shown.

“An ageing piece of kit.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

There isn't much to a cable car, it is a big metal box hanging down from a thick wire and people stand in it to be taken up or down a mountain. In that basic aim the Flegere is successful and it served my purpose of getting to one of my walking routes. However as far as metal boxes go this one is too small and too slow to serve a demanding bunch of skiers. It is old and shabby. The Chamonix company that runs all the hardwear and infrastructure needs to invest and quickly
