“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Five of us congregated from across Europe for one night before moving into our rental. The rooms were quirky but lovely. The pool is pretty and quiet. The staff are charming; the breakfast was brill. It's in the centre of one of the nicest towns in France and it doesn't cost an arm or a leg. Might offend atheists and agnostics with the heavily religiously themed reception area but I appreciated the kitsch and the incense!

The garden is an oasis of shade if you go in high season.

Room Tip: Go for the room above the pool with the balcony onto the garden.

We came to stay for one night and stayed for two nights in a room off the beautiful garden with mature trees, and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of this friendly hotel. We were given information on arrival of all there was to see locally, and tried some of the restaurants which were suggested and we were more than happy, and the pool was there if you wanted! The breakfast was amazing with lovely fresh fruits and many other choices. ~The hotel is right in the square, and there is parking for 5 euros a short walk away. A lot of history to this hotel, which adds to the atmosphere! Loved it and the lovely friendly staff!!

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden. If you were at the front you may suf...

First if you want a typical Americanized hotel this is not your place. It's funky clutter and lobby are fun if a little religious. The pool was very nice and the service excellent. Our room was up dark stairs but was warm, comfortable and interesting. We stayed there for two nights on a biking trip and its location in the heart of a beautiful town near great restaurants was perfect.

Once through the slightly gloomy and shrine-like entrance (haven't they heard about first impressions?) the place opens up into a lawned garden surrounded by rooms, with a pool at the end. Our room, No.51, was also a bit of a surprise: up some external steel steps to a small terrace with a table and two chairs, then into a gable end of the building where the small space had been converted on two levels. Downstairs was a seating area, wardrobe, basin and walk-in shower with a separate loo. Up some steep wooden steps was the large bedroom area with a huge and comfortable double bed plus a single, and the wall-mounted flat screen TV. I liked the layout, my wife was less enthusiastic. Room 51 definitely not for mobility-impaired!

Room Tip: Even though the address is 18 Place de la Republique if you're arriving by car you're better...

A very special hotel. You will like or hate the decoration. My husband and I did appreciate it, the kids didn't like it.
The breakfast is good with a lot of fresh fruit. Their is a nice swimmingpool. The location is excellent.
Value/money: We found it to expensive for what we got.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building are bigger and nicer than the rooms in the outbuildings. But their is...

The sun is shining and we headed to our hotel in the center of Saint Remy called
the Gounod Hotel named after the composer Gounod who wrote his opera here.
After driving around the block several times we finally found the correct street, parked
and checked into our hotel. At first glance the hotel lobby is off pudding, smells funny
and is filled to the rafters with tschotkes and religious objects...oh my. I am now
concerned about my choice

However, the front end guy was very funny and very welcoming . Showed us to our room and surprise surprise to see a lovely courtyard garden and pool.....never would have thought it possible. Our room was very nice and the hotel is located in the heart of Saint Remy....perfect

Our interaction with the hotel staff was great,. Both the front end man and lady helped
us with great restaurant suggestion. Paying extra for their parking was worth it although
a little hard to find.

This hotel is located right in the heart of Saint Remy and I would definitely stay here again
and just close my mind's eye to the reception area. After all how long does one stay in the
reception area. We did not have breakfast here so I don't know about the restaurant

The restaurant recommended by the hotel manager was L Aile ou La Cuisse.. We
ate here twice and it was excellent. Another recommendation was Bistro Des Alpilles
which was terrific.

Room Tip: We requested an easy access room . Our room was on the ground floor facing the courtyard garden
