“wow. true elegant, peaceful slice of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

The chateau has been restored to perfection, while keeping the original flavor intact. fromt he basics, the bathrooms are wonderful, comfy bathtub, pipping hot water, great strong water pressure, AC with no noise at all, solid walls so no noise from your neighbors either. Super clean. Breakfast was quality with a small buffet with yogourts, breads, cereals, juices, scrambled eggs, cheeses, hams, fruit, plus they will make you eggs however you like. teas, coffees in nice oversized latte cups, sitting out in the garden with the peaceful trees and birds was so very special. We normally stay at places like the four seasons, oberio and this place was right there with them on a smaller level. Had a room at the top, vincent which we liked, elevator to the first floor and then stairs there rest. The details are amazing, this was done for a love of this home and not for profit. Staff are so helpful and knowledgable, speak great english. The bed is not a westin heaven bed, but was a king size and comfy enough for france, crisp high thread sheets, sofa in the room. 5 minute drive in to Remy, and for us was a no brainer to stay here then any of the places in town.

Room Tip: We stayed one night in a room on the main floor which was nice too but a lot smaller, moved to vince...

While the setting is sublime and the staff could not be more accommodating, the rooms are so-so and seemed overpriced to us. Ours was a third floor walk-up (no lift) so ask for a lower if you object to stairs. The town of St. Remy is well worth a visit......loads of charm with many restaurants and appealing shops.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

We stayed here for five nights in late April and it was a wonderful experience.

From start to finish, the staff was helpful, friendly and informative.

If we needed something in our room, it was promptly brought. We had our laundry done there and the price was not bad at all. One evening, we decided to just have cheese, fruit and bread in our room and they brought us plates, silverware and wine glasses! Another afternoon, we ordered a bottle of chilled white wine to the Library and the head waiter appeared with the wine list and we reviewed the options together.

Our room was one of the Les Chatellains in the Chateau, called Maguelone. It was wonderful with a view out of the front of the Chateau down the tree-lined road. The air conditioning in our room worked excellently.

The bed was a little firm for our tastes, but we seem to find that a lot in European hotels. Everything else was wonderful.

The breakfasts were very good, with a friendly waitress bringing us eggs and coffee and a very nice buffet spread.

The restaurant itself and the dinners were wonderful!! The first night we had the chef's selection, which was eight courses. We spent over three hours in culinary heaven. At the end of the evening, the chef-owner, Vincent appeared and we had a wonderful talk! We ate there three other evenings, with a wonderful variety of food and wines. The wait staff was attentive and wonderful, with Georges and Vino providing both excellent suggestions as to food and expert guidance as to the wine (Vino had recently redone their wine list and it is excellent). Our last evening, we ate outside, finishing our night with champagne with Vincent. We cannot recall a lovelier restaurant experience and we have been to a lot of very nice restaurants!

Finally, the Chateau itself is a treasure. Dating back more than 400 years, originally built by the brother of Nostrodamus, a wonderful park with a greenhouse designed by Gustave Eiffel, you feel transported back to another time.

Saint-Remy-de-Provence is a wonderful place to tour Provence generally and Chateau Roussan is an excellent place to stay.

We will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Chateau for three nights. Warm welcoming staff, beautiful room and a magnificent setting. it was off season so the hotel was quiet, the trees still not blossomed, but we felt we were in another time. Even though it is located outside of the center of St Remy, it is still a good location, and one needs a car anyhow in Provence. We ate at the restaurant one night, quite delicious!
Downside, and perhaps in the high season they are organized differently, but it would be good to have a bellboy to take you luggage where you park the car as you cannot drive right up to the door.
All in all, a most pleasurable stay!

Arriving to the Chateau was magic for us, the sky was red, the view of the chateau from the entrance with the beautiful trees was marvelous and the view and sound of the sheep passing by wordless. People that work there so nice, rooms perfect, breakfast delicious and abundant, the location perfect...... we loved it!!!!

Room Tip: not that many people was there for the time of the year.... it was very quite...

My wife and I stayed at the impressive Chateau de Roussan in early October, for two nights. Our room, which was one of the less expensive rooms, was large, clean, modern, and homey, with a stunning view of the grounds at the back of the hotel. The grounds, which covered several acres, were incredible, as you can see from the many photos various travelers have posted here. One interesting experience was to see the sheep being herded down the main road and into one of the many pastures which surround the hotel. You don't see that at your local Hyatt Regency! The staff was friendly and eager to help. The hotel is in a truly pastoral, rural area, and is very quiet and tranquil. All in all, a fine and relaxing experience.

Room Tip: If you don't like climbing stairs, choose a room on the first or second floor, as the elevator d...

Probably one of the more expensive hotels in St Remy, but if you can afford it, treat yourself. Everything about this hotel is beautiful, inside and outside.
