“Good food, excellent atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

We were in St Remy for the weekend and were recommended to La Cantina by our hotel. We loved it. The food was very good, friendly owners, professional staff. Wide choice of italian dishes for menu. Ingredients of Excellent quality. The desserts really, really good. Exceptional homemade raspberry sorbets, pannacotta made by the wife of the owner, a must!, delicious. We booked the restaurant just before leaving the hotel and managed to get a table for2. We saw many clients arriving after us and couldn't get a table, so we would advise a booking if you want to try this worthwhile restaurant!

“Outstanding--one of the best pizzas ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

This place is oh so good. We were on a tour from our cruise ship and told we would need to get lunch on our own in St Remy. The problem was that the bus back to the ship would leave at 12:30, and the restaurants don't really open till 12. But Claud and Dana took great care of us. They took our order before official opening time and had it ready to eat at 12 sharp. The best pizza we had our entire trip. Very thin crust, simple and delicious. Claud suggested a wine that was less expensive that the one we had picked, and it went with the pizza perfectly. I wish I could eat here every day!

“simple, affordable,straightforward Italian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

Tucked on the sidewalk of a busy street in the heart of town, it lacks atmosphere but the warm welcome and kind service make up for that. English was spoken by two of the three servers we encountered. The rocket salad was superb. Artichoke hearts were just that, lightly marinated artichoke hearts in a bowl, which were very good. The pizza is good, but not like one finds in Italy. The spaghetti bolognese was a little bland but acceptable with a little olive oil plus salt and pepper. After all of the rich French food we have had, this was very enjoyable.

There was a mix of tourists and locals that made it even nicer. Tough to beat for the price.

“Passion for Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014 via mobile

After almost 2 weeks in France trying to eat like the locals, Italian sounded really good for a change. The Trip Advisor reviews for La Cantina made the decision easy. The food, wine, and service made it our favorite meal in Provence! I had a smooth, refreshing rose house wine and a delicious, crusty traditional lasagna served with a simple but memorable salad. My daughter had pesto spaghetti and raved about it. My husband enjoyed the house red and was reluctant to share his individual pizza with buffalo mozzarella and Parma ham. We were told that the owner of the vineyard of the house wine was dining this evening as well and when we asked for the name of the vineyard, it was written down for us. Several bottles of Evian and a cappuccino later, we met the owner, Dana, who was as lovely as could be. Her English is impeccable and she laughed when we discussed her answers to Trip Advisor reviews. She knows she can't please everyone, but she sure wants to! If you appreciate fresh, quality food, friendly service and good wine, you must eat here, but be patient, as it's quite popular.
