“Good food but average service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012 via mobile

I wouldn't give 3 stars to this restaurant for the service and the decor.
Both are average for a restaurant of this kind.
But we are in France, and more precisely in Marseilles, and maybe they are not very concerned with the fact that taste in not only for a good meal but also for the other senses.
Compared to a Restaurant in New York: Le BERNARDIN, where service, fish quality, and decoration, are immaculate and also 3 stars Michelin, this pricey Le Petit Nice is not worth the detour. I was very disappointed by this experience, even if the fish was excellent, but not at this price.

“outstanding seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

the chef is best known for his brilliantly innovative seafood. Received the highest distinction possible for a french chef (etoile du michelin guide). The setting is also superb, outside of the frenzy and just above the sea and yet in a relaxed setting (nothing is very snobbish in marseille)

“pure delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

One of the best restaurant I've ever been to. I am a good cook, but this is several leagues above. Try the "sea menu", it is designed to bring you a tide of flavors, going up, down and up again. I could have cried. As for wine, I strongly recommend one of the "non-dosed" champagne. These contain a very small amount of sugar, extremely long lasting and very complex wines, worth the top white burgundies, but 10 times cheaper, because few experts know these wines.
Food, wine, but also the view is a pure delight. The restaurant dominates the bay. Go there at sunset, and enjoy a cocktail on the terrace.
OK, this is a very expensive. A real three stars, so, one of the best in the world. But it is worth every euro.

“The epitome of mediterranean cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

This is a gem. A Michelin *** restaurant really worth it if you can appreciate the finesse of the cuisine. If you are a real cuisine buff and not a fussy snob, if you know the difference between natural fish ( and are ready to pay for it) and aquaculture this is the place for you. One of the best meals I have ever had. This is perfection and the wine list is not the longuest in the world (what's the interest anyhow ?) but one of the best, corresponding to the restaurateur's cuisine.

“This is a BIG deal, many courses, many wines (seven different) Relais & Chateaux”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2011

We all had the tasting menu which was many many courses - twelve I believe - and each had a different wine, each was a special presentation, they have THREE Michelin stars, and if you have to think about the cost, better say home, but for the sea food, creativity, service, and style, this is the best in town, yes, the view of the sea too.
