“Helpful staff, clean, arty and fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014 via mobile

Good room, comfy bed, helpful staff, I was very pleased with the overall standard and it personified what was a very favourable visit to vibrant Marseille. Well located in the bustling Old Port I would recommend it.

The New Hotel located in Marseille is a fine hotel for the business traveler. It is not directly on the water but it has water views so the room cost is less than the hotels across the street. I have stayed there many times and have found the hotel clean and well maintained and for the most part quite. There is a restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner or just drinks and tapas. There are many restaurants and pubs walking distance from the hotel. There is even a small beach about a half a mile from the hotel. Wi fi connection is good and they print out business headlines in several different languages each day. There is underground parking if you drive. Keep in mind that this is France and taxis are very expensive.

Location good - right across Palais du Pharo if you are attending a conference. Also bus stops right in front to take you to the city or train station. Very friendly and efficient concierge to welcome you - staff also friendly. Reception area, dining area, business centre etc. very modern and well maintained. Nice pool and wooden deck to relax. Efficient bar with good service. I had a 3-course meal at the restaurant which was delicious - also accompanied by an extensive wine selection. Psychedelic passages! Rooms are comfortable size and linen, towels etc of excellent quality. These are replaced every day. Flat screen TV and bar fridge available. Also a Nespresso for making coffee.Double glazed windows so no street noise.

My only complaints: There was no proper desk-chair in the room, so if I wanted to do some work on my laptop I either had to go downstairs or sit on the bed and work, which is a bit uncomfortable. There is no separate shower - only the shower in the bath. This means limited space and always risk of slipping in the bath. There were no English TV channels - at least a CNN or BBC would be nice. While the Nespresso is great, I don't think one should be charged for the capsules (Euro 2.50 each) - I believe coffee and tea facilities in room should be free, irrespective of what the facilities are.

But apart from these few issues I can certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: I would just advise bring your own Nespresso capsules!

We stayed three nights in this hotel in early May. It had a very good: staff was really helpful and the concierges went out of their way to come up with specific restaurant recommendations and reservations. Location is excellent, 10 minutes away by foot from one of the main squares in Marseille which in the evening is filled with terraces (there are very frequent busses as well). The hotel itself was stylish. If anything, the choice of food for breakfast could be improved. We would certainly stay here again when we come back to Marseille

From the get go the staff go out of their way to assist. From finding and booking a last minute meal at a top restaurant, to letting me have an early breakfast for a quick getaway. The bed was comfortable the room had everything needed and was spotless. it was all just right. Location good. Walkable to the old port - 5 minutes, and the Corniches, 5 minutes. Next to Pharo. Buses jsut outside the doors both ways.
For the last hotel on a long trip, this was a treat!

I visited for two nights in April 2014. The hotel is a short walk from the old harbour and the old town. It is really really nice:

- the rooms are quirky, boutique-like, spacious and really-well thought-out - a slightly different layout from what you see in so many hotels. Excellent bed, and well-stocked bathroom with all the Savon de Marseille products.

- the lounge areas are relaxing, with some nice art on display.

- the breakfast was perfectly decent (although I would not say exceptional).

I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I can thoroughly recommend it for a short stay in this interesting city.

This Hotel has everything to offer, The people are the first thing that hit you when you walk in they are just a ray of sunshine and bubble with excitement. The Hotel itself is so bright and Hip.
It has a Great vibe. The rooms were large and comfy. The bath was perfect. I can't say enough about the Staff, they were helpful and always happy to answer questions. The Hotel was part of a Tour package so we had nothing to do with picking it.
But could not have done better if we tried. The swimming pool looked Great but was too busy to enjoy it, we were there in April and the weather was perfect for it. The Breakfast was a perfect. It
was everything that you expect from France. This place Rocks...Go Stay Have Fun!!!

Room Tip: We did not have a room with a balcony but it faced the Fort behind the Hotel ,but still a Heck of a...
