“Nice enough for a stop over ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

Very friendly staff, who speak various languages. Nice enough rooms but nothing exceptional . Nice clean bathroom but shower is hand held over the bath. It's not in the centre of marseille but nice restaurants are around the area and it's easy to get into the centre . Safe car parking for €7 a night.

We enjoyed ourself immensely at this hotel. The room was perfect and quite spacious, not like the mini rooms we are use to in Europe. At the time we were there, there were concerts on each afternoon and evening out in the enormous front porch. A great way to sit and relax with beautiful music and a quality glass of wine. We were very impressed with its position as it was an easy walk done to the promenade which ran along the water. This promenade has an abundance of good restaurants. We certainly hope to be back again.

Room Tip: Choose this hotel if you are in Marseille....you won't be disappointed

The location is surely not the best place to be in Marseille, although the metro is at 3-4mins walking distance. The price (€70 for a double room) is probably too much for what is given: breakfast is not included, the room is very basic, and the bed is pretty uncomfortable.
Good points: internet wi-fi in the room is included and the room is pretty quite.

This hotel was the closest I could find to the exhibition centre and it was very good value. While looking a little tired it did offer a reasonable size room and the en-suite had a bath and hand held shower. Sadly, like most hotels in Europe, the air conditioning was turned off. This meant that you had to open the window to keep the room cool. As the rear and front of the hotel face a busy road, this meant quite a bit of noise. It is also close to the city's football stadium so, on 'home game' days the area gets crowded and noisy.

Room Tip: There is a parking garage under the hotel

A friend and I booked this hotel for a trip to Marseille for a rugby match. We chose it mainly because it was cheap and near the stadium (and also near a Metro station so we could get into town easily). We paid 60 euros a night for a twin room (not including breakfast, which was extra) and it was perfectly OK for the price.

It was easy to find - just about visible from the Metro station at Rond-point du Prado, and from there it's 10 minutes into the city centre. The area is fine - mostly businesses in the immediate area but there are restaurants and bars just round the corner and it's a short bus ride to the coast and the famous Prado beaches.

It was a small room with a very small ensuite bathroom, but it was clean and functional. There was only limited space for hanging clothes - not a problem for a short stay but perhaps a problem for anything longer. Beds were comfortable although the mattress slid around quite a lot on the base which meant that the sheets didn't stay put - not a huge problem, just slightly annoying! There was something in the room that looked like it should have been a temperature control thing (air con / heating?) but it didn't seem to work. But with the window open the temperature was fine. Might not be so great if it was seriously hot - it was only high 20s (= low 80s) when we were there and there was a nice breeze.

The water pressure in the shower was good and there was always hot water. The tap water smelt a bit funny (!), but my friend drank it (I decided not to...) and didn't have any problems, so I guess it can't be that bad.

Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful and spoke some English - between that and my limited French there weren't any communication problems.

Food-wise, we paid to have breakfast in the hotel just for convenience really. It was OK, in fact most of it was great, but the croissants were a bit disappointing (just because you have high expectations of the croissants in a French hotel, and these weren't really any better than you'd get in the UK). The restaurant below the hotel was closed for summer when we were there but the menu looked good and reasonably priced.
