“OK, but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

The location of this hotel can't be complained.
2 minutes walk from the metro and bus stops are nearby.
It is close to the shopping area and restaurants, the tourism office is just at the corner.
Staffs were very nice and helpful.
The room itself is quite clean, the bathroom is a bit small but OK.

The big let down is that my room had strong cigarette smell.
The lady at the reception did mention that this is a non-smoking hotel, so I wonder where the smell came from and didn't the cleaner noticed about it?
Since I only stayed for a night, I didn't ask for room change which I regretted about it later the night.
The smell persisted although I opened the window for a long while and I almost couldn't stand it.

The other thing to be mentioned is, the lift in this hotel is very small and old style.
I think it can only fit one person and maybe one baggage at any one time.
So I only used the lift once and used the stair all other times (my room was at 4th floor).
The room lighting is a bit dark and the air conditioner didn't work! Lucky that it was autumn so the temperature was not so bad.

Price was reasonable.
Will I go back again? If the room smells fresh and the air conditioner works well then yes :)

This hotel could not be more centrally located to the Vieux Port. It is also just a few paces from the local Metro. The room was a little on the small side but more than adequate for our two night stay. The staff were absolutely fabulous and gave us excellent recommendations for our "where to eat this style of food" enquiry (hopefully reviews a little later). Breakfast was a little unusual but more than adequate in so far a quality and choice. This hotel is perfect for anyone who really wants to see the sights of Marseille, as it gives easy access to the harbour, the restaurants, the shops and all forms of transport. It has relatively easy access via the Metro to the main rail station for TGV and other trains or you can taxi it to the airport with a "negotiated" fee for the trip.

The hotel has an ideal location. The Metro is around corner, Tourist Bureau next door, a Boulangerie 12 meters away, Bus stops are within 5 to 10 minutes walk depending where you are going. The room was in good condition for price. The Staff was incredibly helpful, they really made me rate the hotel as excellent.

We spent 12 days in this hotel from September 3 to September 15 2012.
The impression is overall good though there are some things to be amended...
Postitve:
Very convenient location, almost right in the centre of Marseilles, all main streets are nearby.
The friendliest staff I've ever met, speak good English, very helpful and friendly, special thanks to Emmannuella, Stephany and one more brilliant blonde girl (don't know her name unfortunately)
Good breakfast, cosy dining room, fresh meals,
All problems connected with your stay there if you have any, are solved in a jiffy,
Not very positive:
The building itself definitely needs reconstruction, the lift looks like a coffin, even in September it's sultry there...
Rooms are large enough but air-conditioners seem to be worn out, they don't refresh rooms the way they should...
Window view brings you to the wall of the building next-door with a sort of huge chimney on it of undiscovered destination:-).
Actually all claims can be made to the state of the building only.
The Sea is not so far, 10 minutes by bus or 20 on foot along the port so it's not so tiresome...
I liked the Hotel, would stay one more time, just wish they would improve air-conditioners...

Room Tip: Ask for "11" (211, 311, 411, 511) numbers if you don't want to see a wall of the build...

Good location, but the place is a bit run down with a refurbished shoddy atmosphere. The lift is from 1st floor so you have to take the steps with all your heavy luggage, and the lift is tiny. Apart from that the hotel is fine, and very near to both train, vieux port, restaurants and the pedestrianized area.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012 via mobile

The hotel itself was alright, but the floors are a bit dirty so wear shoes if you can. The elevator is old and creaky and the rooms are small (but hey, that's Europe for you). There's only AC in the rooms but that's really all that's necessary. The wifi is absolutely terrible, and it really only works in the lobby, but the lobby is comfortable and you can get your work done there undistirbed. The service though is fantastic. The concierge is willing to help with everything! They went above and beyond to make our stay great- and that was great. Overall, though, the hotel was average but expect fantastic customer service.

We stayed there in late May and then early June, as part of our tour of Provence. The location is great - right in the heart of the old port. The rooms don't have views, but when you're in this location, you will be spending most of your time outside. Tons of restaurants and street-life nearby, Breakfast ok - wonderful fresh-squeezed oj. The staff were awesome, friendly and helpful.
