Fantastic view of the whole city and beyond!! Well worth the effort to walk up. Try to find the little footpath at the rear that takes you down through beautiful gardens

“Cruise to Mediterranean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

This was our last stop from our cruise trip. We weren't in to go shore because we been to Paris, France. But Marseille is beautiful and also had the Basilique de Notre Dame de la Garde. This church is not good for person with difficult of mobility or had any heart condition. It had over 200 steps. But once you made it to the top it worth the visit. Has an amazing view from Marseille coast.

“Norte dame de la gare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Well worth a visit even if you are "churched out". Stunning views and a most impressive Church. I recommend you use the ,little train' to get there - it does pretty much the same route as the hop-on-hop-off bus, is a third of the price, takes you much closer to the castle to get off, and is much more user friendly. The commentary is quite adequate. The train driver will tell you that you have a 20 minute stop at the castle, which, for us, was way too little, but you can always catch the next train back. Hang on to your train ticket though - they need to see it for the return trip.

“View of the ship and city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

This is our second time to Marseille. I believe there are 2 ways to get directly there without the hike up the hill. 1)The little train from Vieux Port - it is located the end of the "U" bend of the harbor. 7/8 euros. It is across the street from the restaurant row of the harbor. 2)hop on hop off bus? This place is impressive. You can spend hours here or at least 1 hour to snap quick pictures and take a quick look. Toilets are on the ground floor and elevator is also available. The little train shows up every half hour.

“great view”

Ornate church with a wonderful view of Marseille. There is quite a hike to get here, but there is also a bus you can take.
