“Truly sweet and a paradise indeed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

It was our first time in Marseille and we really couldn't imagine what will it be if not for owners of this B&B. They were already exceptionally courteous and helpful when we first enquired about their service. And right from the very first step in Marseille they made as feel like home. During our stay they provided us with excellent advice and suggestions in where to visit and eat, and how to get about in Marseille and its surroundings.

Breakfast was excellent. And the host was ready to cater breakfast hours to our travelling schedule. We had a big bowl of fresh fruits every morning, and the home-made jams were just delicious. During our breakfast chats the hosts would tell us everything we wanted to know about the city, its tradition, culture, and people.

The B&B itself is a spacious home, impeccably furnished and decorated with a modern touch. Its location is very good - very quiet at night when we needed our sleep, and yet only a few minutes away from bus and metro. Both the bedroom and bathroom are clean and maintained at a very high standard. All in all we were very surprised by its high quality, and will have no hesitation to recommend to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Marseille!

The best B&B we've ever stayed at! It was our first visit to Marseille . We were greeted by Ariane and Gilles. They were very helpful and full of advise and tips . The restaurants Ariane suggested were wonderful. The room was very nice, comfortable, sparkling clean and roomy. The quality of the fittings and linen etc was excellent. The king sized bed was the best night's sleep we had both had for a long time.
Also, the breakfast is delicious - think warm croissants, "petits pains au chocolat", home made jams and amazing fresh fruit salads every morning!!!
Ariane and Gilles could not have been more welcoming, helpful, or friendly. They sees it as their mission to be of as much assistance to their guests as they possibly can, and spend a lot of time in doing so.
Ariane and Gilles thank you for your hospitality!

We caught the metro from the central station with all our luggage and then walked up the hill and along Rue Paradis to get to Sweet-Paradis. It is certainly achievable as it is only a 15 minute walk or so, but is a bit of a hassle with luggage due to the cars on the footpaths and the uneven surfaces. A taxi may be easier for some. Parking might be difficult as the street is small and is blocked due to construction up the street. Rue Paradis runs straight down to the port area and is a pleasant 20 minute walk away.

Sweet-Paradis is nothing to look at from the outside, seemingly just another apartment complex on a side street of Rue Paradis. Once inside, it really is a nice little oasis. The hosts Arianne and Gilles are warm and accommodating, and Ariane's English was very good (which was helpful for us given our lack of French). They have done a lovely job renovating the apartment and creating a lovely living space and private rooms. We stayed in the Blue Room, which is large and comfortable with good windows and a doorway out to the lovely courtyard (it is reserved for guest use exclusively when you are there and is a lovely spot for a meal if the weather is good). There is a large private bathroom about 2 metres down the hall. Breakfast and wifi access were included and both were excellent. We stayed two nights and would happily return. We paid Euro 95 per night, which is on the expensive side of B&Bs we stayed at during our trip, but we thought it was excellent value. We could not recommend Sweet-Paradis highly enough. There were lots of nice touches, such as water to take out with you on your day away and Ariane spent about 30 minutes at the start of our stay providing maps, travel suggestions and recommendations.

Room Tip: The Cosy Room is smaller, but has an ensuite. The Blue Room is quite spacious, with direct access to...

We were in Marseille on August 2012, we stayed only one night in our one week Road Trip through the Cote d'Azur. From the outside this B&B looks like a very simple house. But once we got inside it was like WOW!! Decoration is sooo nice... cosy... welcoming... The hosts were very nice and welcomed us with some drinks and all tips and instructions to what we should visit. We stayed on the Cosy Room... it is really nice, bathroom is big and I loved the door connecting the room with the terrace. Location is also very good. We were only 1 night but we managed to see the most important of Marseille. We rented some bycicles and it was also something I would reccomend.
As other members already told breakfast is also PERFECT!! A super huge bowl of fresh fruit salad... home made confiture... fresh bread... croissants...coffee... If you arrive in car, like we did, there is a parking place available just in front the B&B.
I was sad we just stayed 1 night... i would definitively reccomend it!!!
Hope we can go back one day!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We spent 2 nights at Sweet-Paradis in July, 2012. Coming into the apartment from the busy streets of Marseille is truly like stepping into a peaceful oasis. We stayed in the "Cosy" room which is tastefully decorated and has a large private bath and door onto the beautiful split-level terrace. The room itself is small, but guests are invited to use both the terrace and the open kitchen-living space.

Breakfast is delicious and includes breads, pastries, homemade jams and the biggest individual bowls of fresh fruit I've ever seen. In short, the B&B is beautiful and located within walking distance of many attractions.

However, our biggest delight was the gracious hosts, Ariane and Gilles. who go well above the call of duty to help their guests be comfortable and feel at home. Ariane spent a good half-hour with a map showing us local attractions and providing details; Gilles backed our rental car into the garage for us; and when we needed to fill the tank on a Sunday (when there were no gas station attendants and the pumps would not accept our credit cards), they even made a special trip to fill the tank for us and let us pay them. Incredibly, Ariane insisted on providing breakfast at 4:15 a.m. (!) the day we had an early flight out. The most anyone has ever done for us before with such an early departure is to provide a bagged breakfast.

We recommend without reservation this beautiful B&B with its incredibly generous hosts to anyone spending time in Marseille.

My wife and I stayed at the Sweet-Paradis for 4 nights in mid October 2011. Our hosts were most gracious and helpful in every respect. The location was convenient to most attractions (walking or by bus/metro) and the home was very quiet for restful sleep. We truly enjoyed our stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. For extra elbow-room, choose the larger Blue Room (for a few extra Euros). We stayed in the smaller Pink room, which was adequate if you don't have much luggage. Truly one of our best B&B experiences ever.

Room Tip: Take the larger Blue Room, if available.; Boht rooms have direct & secure access to lovely outdo...
