“A very friendly comfortable hotel in a convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for one night. It is situated in an excellent location next to the port. We had a superior room that had a balcony overlooking the old port. The free WiFi was a breath of fresh air but the signal was rather poor in our room. Our room and bathroom was very clean and modern. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Overall a very good experience and we will certainly return to this hotel but probably not until they complete the new construction work around the old port in preparation for 2013 when the city will be the European Capital of Culture.

Room Tip: If you like good views from your room choose one with a balcony overlooking the port

This hotel was so wonderful we booked again and will stay here whenever we come to Marseilles. Rooms are modern, very functional, with balcony overlooking the Port/ town. Breathtaking views! Location is across the street from the Metro - very easy to get to from the main train station, St Charles- about 5 minute train ride. A big mall with Galleries Lafayettes is on the next block, and there are many restaurants and cafes nearby. Hotel staff speaks English - a plus for me- though they were also quite tolerant of my bad French! An excellent value for the money.

This was my second visit to Marseille and this time I took my family for a quick visit. I located this hotel via Expedia and checking Trip Advisor reviews. I ended up booking directly through the hotel website as it was the least expensive alternative. (They were also very accomodating when I realized I had booked initially for the wrong night - correcting my error very quickly and with no hassle.) While not cheap, for location and convenience, this was a super place to stay to get a feel for Marseille.

It is convient to all the restaurants lining the port, metro and tourist destinations. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and responsive. We had a limited time in Marseille and the clerk directed us to options to make the most of our short visit.

The room for 3 was spacious and comfortable with air conditioning that worked well as it was quite warm in Marseille.

The port is undergoing major renovation so be aware that this is probably not the optimum time to visit Marseille but if you do, I would recommend this hotel and will stay again if going to this lovely port city.

We stayed in this hotel with my mother for one night and we enjoyed it. The location is absolutely wonderful, just several steps from the old port. We could see the sea from the balcony. The room is not big as always in France but we had everything we need, even a spacious bathroom. I really loved the breakfast with a lot of fresh food (yogurt, cakes, tea-coffee, milk, fruit). The staff was really attentive and nice, speaking english well.

One of the truly great features of this hotel is its' location near the Old Port, the metro stop which is directly across the street, and the fact that the train station is a short walk (or cheap cab ride). The front desk was friendly and courteous, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was not included in the room rate, but was a good value as "ala carte at a Marseille cafe" can quickly add up. We were originally assigned a rather large room on the top floor of the hotel (the downside is that the room was like an attic with windows that opened like skylights), but were allowed to change after we requested a slightly smaller room on the side of the hotel. There are many fine restaurants in the area offerring fixed price dinner menus (15 euros). Marseille is getting ready for a major cultural event in 2013, which means there is a lot of construction underway in the area near the hotel. A visitor should try to visit Notre Dame de la Garde which is visible anywhere on the city (it is high on a hill and dominates the skyline). If you have time, take the 2 hour boat trip to the Calanques which are truly spectacular.

I was here during the World Water Forum in Marseille so the prices was a bit ridiculous. Having said that, the hotel was very very centrally located so it is a great walk to just about everything. Because it is so centrally located, the room tends to get noisy even though we faced a side street. The breakfast was expensive at 15 euros/day so you are better off going somewhere else. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was quite expensive but really not that great. One night we were woken up by a false alarm and there wasn't great fire safety procedure. There really wasn't an announcement of what is happening. The room is very clean and renovated - we got a somewhat deluxe room so it was bigger than others.
