Staying for 3 nights here was great. The house is wonderful; the bedroom comfortable and clean. I enjoyed talking to Odile at breakfast; she had good advice and I enjoyed the dogs and cat. It was quiet but easy to access the metro. Had a good supper at a nearby restaurant.

We have traveled extensively and never have we stayed in such an elegant surroundings, without pretense. It's a beautiful 18th century chateau nestled in a leafy grove, hidden away from the bustle of amazingly exotic Marseille. It's a quick 15 minutes by subway from the heart of the city.

After staying for two nights at the beginning of our trip along the French and Italian Riviera, we changed our plans and returned for two more nights.

Our hostess, Odile, served exquisite and memorable breakfasts in her garden. She was kind, thoughtful and very helpful suggesting places of interest for our first trip to Marseille.

We're already planning a return trip in the Spring of 2014.

This beautiful typically French house is situated in a pleasant suburb only a few minutes by Metro to the Old Port area of Marseille. Odile certainly helped us to make the most of our time here with suggestions of restaurants and places of interest. Our appetites have been well and truly whetted for further visits to the city, and we would always stay at Les Acanthes as we feel Odile is not only a perfect host but a friend to us.

We still remember our holiday in Provence with pleasure and our staying in Les Acanthes. The pleasant atmosphere of the old very Provencal house, elegant antique furniture, clear and cosy room, tasty breakfasts with a piano of Brahms, dormant pets. Is it so looks like a pages from the book, isn't it? But this is the house of Les Acanthes, creating by efforts of fabulous, clever and active host, Odile.
This is important for travelers, this green heavenly spot is located near metro station to get to the historical center and Old Port. But frankly speaking, we couldn't refuse the walking. All things are very close.
Marseille, justifying a rank as the cultural capital of Europe 2013, is rich in exhibitions and performances. Near Marseille there are many interesting towns - for example Aix-en-Provence (Cezanne's home), we had experience of railway journey to Nice. Odile's recommendations helped us to correct our routes because this was our first time.
We don't want to stay in hotels anymore after such wonderful experience. We trust that we will arrive to Les Acanthes again and again. There is hardly any doubt that those people who will choose Les Acanthes, they will enjoy their staying.
We were perfectly happy.
Thank you Odile

My partner and I stayed at Les Acanthes during our first trip to Marseille and the beautiful home and gracious host, Odile, made the experience the best it could be. The home is beautiful and just steps away from a quick metro ride into the city centre. Odile's recommendations and advice helped us make our time in Marseille a memorable one. We'll be back one day for the delicious breakfasts and company of Odile and her dogs Homer, Di and Stanley.

We stayed for three nights in August 2013 and were delighted by the setting, our hosts' warmth and style, and our fellow guests. Les Acanthes is an ivy-covered, stone hunting lodge from the 17th C, in the quiet quartier of St. Barnabe. Rooms are immaculate, artfully furnished, and the garden is a wonderful place to linger for breakfast and in the evenings, as guests return from their adventures. Odile and Pierre are delightful hosts, warm and inviting. They suggest destinations that are easily reached by public transportation. Our favorites were the Fort St Jean and MuCEM (a fabulous cultural center with an array of outdoor spaces overlooking the sea and port), Le Panier (an historic district with old architecture and charming shops), Vallon des Auffes (a small port), and nearby Aix en Provence. Odile's elegant breakfasts are also delicious - truly, l'art de vivre (see photos). Our fellow guests were from Germany, Holland, Italy and France - we enjoyed their company and lively conversation. We recommend it highly.

Marseille is one of those cities that has plenty of "rough edges" that make it such an attractive place to visit and to just walk around. Whether ít is the Napoli-like quarter of Le Panier, the wonderful "Béton Brut" of La Cité Radieuse or the stunning architecture of the brand new MUCEM. A day or evening about town is exciting, vibrant and leaves you full of impressions. What more do you need than to be able to return to a quiet, lush place called Les Acanthes. Just a few minutes walk from the subway, Les Acanthes is a little haven of peace in a busy city. We stayed for 5 days in the apartment and enjoyed every minute. The interior decoration is state of the art (the shower is a great example of ingenious design). Highly recommended if you want to stay for more than one or two nights. Odile, the owner of Les Acanthes, is not only a very welcoming hostess but also a very intelligent woman with a distinguished taste in music and arts. Her breakfast includes wonderful homemade jams and different varieties of honey plus some very good tea.
