“Weather Nasty but Hospitalty Was Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We stayed three nights at Mas Julien this May, 2013. The property offers great amenities of covered pool, great grounds, secure parking, gorgeous room and fine breakfast. Best of all is the superb service of host and owner Valere. While staying with him, we had a blow-out on our rental car. He was kind enough to canvas the local tire vendors to find a shop that carried the proper size. Even better, he found a set of used tires that could be purchased for a fraction of new and could be put on immediately so we could continue to enjoy the area with the least amount of disruption.
Besides this service to us beyond the norm, he is a great host, offering great insight to local restaurants and wineries, including ability to visit locations closed to the public. When we checked in, he provided maps and brochures for the area and his personal recommendations.
We stayed at 3 other B & B's on our 17 day trip and he was the ONLY proprietor that provided this much information from the outset.
The wifi was great all the time. The only possible smudge is the lack of in room TV but at all our other stays there was TV but it was always in French so the absence was not noticed.
Mas Julien should definitely be a top choice for any visit to the area!

This was our second time staying at Le Mas Julien and it was as good if not better than our first visit. We went back because of Valere's extraordinary chambre d'hote and outstanding hosting skills. You truly feel at home here, and Valere has made some tweaks that have made this even better than before - rooms have been refurbished and he added a communal kitchen area too. The area is absolutely stunning, even without the sunshine we remembered from the summer, and you are conveniently situated for many wonderful places. We had friends and family who stayed with us (coming from Italy) and they all thoroughly enjoyed their visit also and are talking about coming back already. We will be back for a 3rd time I am sure!

Room Tip: We stay in the room called Valere - charming and comfortable with amazing shower

Mas Julien is just a perfect place for anyone who wants to feel the real Provence. This is an old farmhouse, thouroghly renovated and close to the best vineyards in the region. Our room was nicely decorated and stylish. Air conditioning was also an advantage. Everything very clean. Breakfast prepared by the host, Valere, was also very good. The real gem of this place is the host, Valere. He is really helpful when preparing your plan for the day. This time we spent two weeks in Provence (3 nights in Mas Julien) and Mas Julien was definietely the number one of the whole stay.

Valere is simply the perfect host! We have all stayed in good/great accomodation but it is service that we remember most and with this, Valere scores 10/10. He manages the property with great attention and pride and looks after his guests as individuals perfectly. Le Mas Julien is a great place in a wonderful, peaceful location. The facilities allow you to unwind, relax and take in all that Provence has to offer - historic Orange only 10 minutes away, fantastic vineyards in every direction and great restaurants offering a varied menus and budgets to suit all.
Thank you Valere. We hope your enjoyed the rosé!

Room Tip: The rooms, as with many Chambre d,hote are all different, with their own style, size and layout, but...

We spent 4 nights at Le Mas Julien and it surpassed our expectation in every way. The house, location & facilities are all excellent but what makes this special is Valere's outstanding hosting. When we arrived he sat down with us for about 20 minutes telling us about good things to do which was really helpful. You can tell that he takes great pride in his role.
The house is very clean with air conditioning in the bedroom, and breakfast is amazing - we once left the table 2 hours after sitting down!
The pool is wonderful and very well maintained. The B&B itself is remotely located but your are a 5 minute drive from Chateau-neuf & 10 minutes from Orange so you have everything you will need close by.
We will definitely be back - merci beacoup Valere!

We appreciate natural beauty and terrific food -- both were in great abundance here. Shady lawns planted with old plum trees, fruit perfectly ripe. Walks on country lanes through vineyards, with blackberries just coming in. Best: good company and excellent local food at dinner and at breakfast (host Valere was a restaurant owner for years) around a big wooden table on the grape-hung terrace. Amazing breakfast spread! Comfortable room with AC, nice bathroom. One night was not enough.

This was a beautiful B&B outside of Orange. Getting there was a bit challenging, but once there it was a great experience. The rooms have an interesting rustic/modern feel to them. You can tell you're staying in an old French home, but they've been updated well to have the amenities that you need when staying somewhere.

The service here was top notch. Incredibly warm and friendly with a lot of tips on places to visit (we took him up on all of them in the one night we were there). Valere (the owner) is well connected around the area and his suggestions were spot on.

Breakfast was tremendous. It's served at a communal table with all the guests so it can be a bit difficult to make conversation, but we really enjoyed it. There was good coffee, pastries, meats, cheeses, and cereals to choose from.

We really wished we'd have more time to explore and enjoy this lovely area and B&B.
