All the good things everyone else says are true! Valere is charming and a very thoughtful host. We loved it so much we will be returning later in our travels, in August, and staying longer.

Wonderful host who will recommend resturants and cellars to visit in the area. Charming, spotlessly clean rooms and bathrooms. We fell in love with the place and would love to go back.

A beautifully converted rural cottage in the middle of the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape. The bedroom we stayed in was large and furnished to a very high standard with a spotless bathroom. It was full of country trinkets to give it a charming finishing touch. The breakfast was continental and delicious, although we embarrassed ourselves slightly on the first morning by pouring cereal and milk into a traditional Provencal coffee bowl!

The host is very kind and welcoming, with faultless English. He has a lot of good recommendations for food and wine locally (NB C du P is a bit touristy so worth getting advice on the best vineyards for tasting).

All in all, you couldn't wish for more in this region and the price at 115 per night isn't too bad considering how much a lot of establishments in Provence charge for infinitely inferior service and comfort.

Beautifully set in the middle of vineyards. Nice pool and gardens. Room understated good taste. Valere was attentive, helpful and genuinely interested host. Also a great cook. Nice breakfasts outside. Highly recommended and great value for money. Much superior to similarly billed places in the area.

Do yourself a favour, if you are anywhere remotely nearby, stay at Le Mas Julien. One regret-not staying long enough. Valere was utterly charming. Stayed in two rooms as booked VERY late and absolutely fell in love with the first room, though the bed in the second room made it difficult to get out of in the morning, SO comfortable. Excellent breakfast- particularly liked the charcuterie/cold meats, on the patio. Lovely big pool with a big area to relax. A beautiful garden with an orchard and lots of shade if you want it. The house dates back to the 17th century, not that you would know from the wonderful amenities. Close to Chateuneuf-de-Pape, Orange and Avignon with the wonderful Pope's Palace, though Mas Julien is "Destination Relaxation" in and of itself. Thanks you for a wonderful stay Valere, Mas Julien is a definite return destination!!!

We stayed in the Suite Julien for 6 nights. although only minutes from highway A7, Mas Julien is situated in a very quiet area in the middle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. The airconditioned room was nicely decorated, the bathroom was huge but cosy, the kitchen was small but convenient and contained a fridge, electric cooker and a microwave. A safe was present in the room. The room and bathroom were cleaned every day, also towels could be changed every day. We were warmly welcomed by host Valere who gave very useful information on Avignon, Orange, restaurants and interesting vineyards in the neighbourhood. Also during the stay, Valere was a superb host always wanting to help or giving advice. The breakfast was extensive, thus not at all typical French - except for the bowl for coffee/tea/cocoa ;-). We used almost daily the small gym and the swimming pool, which was (un)fortunately covered by an enclosure because of the cold mistral wind. Swimming was thus still possible and comfortable. Overal, we were very satisfied about Mas Julien and the owner Valere, and for sure we will book again if we go back to the Rhone area.

Room Tip: If staying for several days, try to book the Suite Julien with the small kitchen, so no need to go t...

This homestay is in a quiet spot just outside Orange. Our room was large and comfortable, with a separate kitchenette and bathroom, as well as a patio. Valere was a wonderful host who served a delicious breakfast and was happy to spend time recommending local attractions, restaurants and day trips. A little more attention to the garden and the kitchenette's facilities would improve the experience, but on the positive side Valere was a truly wonderful host.
