“Provencal Enchantment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

What a delightful discovery. Set outside the busyness of Gordes is this enchanting auberge. From the moment we arrived until we left the service food and facilities were all faultless. Of course, the relentless hot sunshine helped and made the pool an added benefit as did eating all our meals outside to the accompaniment of cicadas. We left with a deep sense of regret that we had not planned to stay longer but with an absolute determination to return.

After many months of emails with the Manager, we finally arrived after a long flight from California..our GPS had no problem finding the Auberge of Carcarille, located at the foot of Gordes, one of the most famous and beautiful Village in Provence - We had notified the Auberge of our late arrival, and they had kindly reserved our Table..what a pleasant surprise it was ..we had signed up for " demi-pension( breakfast and dinner), and let me tell you it was THE BEST idea ..you could go and wonder all day..in the beautiful region.. come back, take a swim, shower and have not to worry or search for a restaurant for dinner..and enjoy the region ROSE wine and not have to drive !!!Truly the most relaxing idea..and the FOOD: absolutely a Delight !! and that is the BEST kept secret of the Auberge de Carcarille- We pent 3 nights there, and every night the dishes were magnificent as well as the presentation..Under Euro 200 for 2 for room and demi pension is hard to find in this region..The rooms were nice and spacious..ours had a nice little patio with view of Gordes..so we shall be back, and I hopethat You too, will consider staying there during your Journey in Provence-

Room Tip: I would suggest you book the "Prestige" room..more spacious and with a nice view..

Arriving as part of a cycling tour, the Auberge de Carcaille served as our base for two nights. The property is terrific and well situated just below the beautiful town of Gordes. The rooms are beautiful and the property has a magical feel. The restaurant is not to be missed. Breakfast has a great variety of options and eating in the courtyard is very memorable. Dinner was a highlight. With food presentations that had everyone reaching for the cameras. To finish the day hanging out at the pool was a complete treat. It is a remarkably relaxed setting. The assistance we received from the family who runs the Auberge was consistently remarkable. Special arrangements were made so we could depart in time for a cycling race, meal schedules were altered, and maps were printed. Members of the cycling tour were planning to return just for another meal after the trip concluded.

This hotel is impressive. Very nice staff, beautiful and clean rooms, amazing atmosphere.
We stayed there for only one night, but would definitely return and stay there for much longer. The restaurant inside, don´t hesitate on eating there for dinner.

Restaurant at the Auberge de Carcarille

This Auberge has a very nice restaurant, which in summer is split onto two different terraces. I believe the people staying at the Auberge on a meal plan probably sit on one of the terraces and outside guests sit on the other. Both are very nice.

We had dinner here one evening while staying in Gordes and had a lovely meal. The service was professional yet friendly. The tables were spaced far enough apart so that you are not listening to other people’s conversations. There was even a big group near us and we were not bothered by them at all and the fact that there was a group did not slow down the service for us. The restaurant has the amount of staff that they need.

The food is excellent and nicely presented. My husband and I had the lamb and the filet mignon and both were prepared perfectly.

The entrance to the auberge is spectacular and very welcoming. All in all, it was a perfect evening.

We stayed here after having arrived in Gordes with nowhere booked. It was lovely, the staff were friendly and the rooms bright, clean and spacious with a nice terrace. We had asked for availability in many other similarly appointed hotels and this was by far the best value and the staff were the friendliest - I really couldn't see why places just down the road were more expensive. A group of us had dinner in the hotel which was good, not great though. If you do want to stay in a hotel in Gordes - stay here - we visited virtually every other hotel and this was the best.
