“not quite south of France more Southampton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

Very tired and in need of refurbishment, Close to industrial estate and new partly built block of holiday apartments. Air conditioning in room faulty. When reported to reception and manager response was one of indifference. No offer of alternative room nor attempt to repair AC. If you are foolish enough to choose this aparthotel make sure you have a car !

We booked through Easyjet Holidays and got a very good deal for flights and accommodation. We became concerned when we read some of the reviews following the booking but these turned out to be unjustified.

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised, the hotel was well kept and had a clean appearance. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and talked us through everything e.g. Use of the Kitchenette, times for locked doors, parking etc.

N.B. There is a 250 euro returnable deposit if you choose to use the kitchenette facilities and a 16 euro per day charge for the use of the utensils and plates. We opted not to use the facility and did not have to place a deposit but were still able to use the fridge which was ideal. The supermarket and bakery is a short walk (8mins).

We emailed ahead and requested a room with a balcony. We had a quadruple superior room which was adequate for two adults and two children, fresh and clean, well equipped and well laid out. We hired a car and there was an excellent underground car park which was easy to access from the hotel room. There is an really good roof-top pool and deck area if you just wanted to sit quietly and soak up the sunshine.

The hotel is located on the edge of a commercial site about 15min drive from the airport but also borders a large nature park/woodland with a good sized playground for 3-8yr olds. It was very quiet and the commercial park should not put you off but we would definitely recommend you have a car if this is your first visit to Nice or be prepared to use the public transport. MarineLand is nearby and a great day out. It is a short drive to the lovely town of Antibes.

Overall we thought this was a good value quality 3 star hotel, ideal if you want to sit by the pool and relax or a good base if you have the use of a vehicle. The better beaches are in Antibes, a 10 min drive. We are regular holidayers and would definitely use this hotel again.

Imagine this -- a stretch of road full of car dealerships and strip malls. You turn off the road when you get to a trailer park. Continue on past the auto parts garage on your left (a factory will be on your right). Drive past the empty lot and you will see a big box-shaped building waiting for you. That's the hotel.

It is so unglamorous, so depressing, that I gave up my $200 deposit just to get away from the place. The map makes it look like it on the ocean, or just across the street, but you have to take a 15 minute walk (they say) past the lot, auto parts, trailer park, across a highway, over railroad tracks, to get there.

To be fair, the workers tried very much to help us. They tried to get us into another hotel. (this almost worked, but the other hotel had some sort of sewage problem, and all the rooms smelled like a cesspool. Firemen were arriving as we left.)

There was no way we could stay at the Seaside Park. if you have a large family and limited budget, this might be a good solution. But don't expect to experience anything that the Cote D'Azure has to offer.

Dear sir,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. It is feedback from valued guests like you, which enables us to continually improve our services.

It is true that our establishment is not on the "Promenade des Anglais" or downtown to the casino of Monte Carlo, but we have never had the pretension to say it.
Rate is not the same too, and 200 $ all included for 3 nights for the most important weekend of the high season (15th of august) is a good rate.
What do you mean by "Depressing Squalor " : Are there only rich person which can go to french riviera ?
Everyone can not afford to go to the Carlton.

Now, we have never lied about the location of our hotel near a "commercial area" mean car dealer among other, but also supermarket, restaurants, bakery, etc...
There is also railroad near the hotel : Train station is at 800m, how could it be otherwise ? Fortunatly, we do not have any noise from train.

We are pleased to see that you noted our staff did helped you. Concerning the other hotel you are talking about, we just informed you about free rooms in the area, and didn't knew about theses circonstances.

Anyway, we thank you for bringing these points to our attention.

We will be even more vigilant and we hope that you still had a great holiday.

Regards.

We stayed in a 1 -bedroom apartment with Accom for 6. Had a lovely balcony with a view of the swimming pool next door.Kitchen v/small and ill -equiped, but sufficient for breakfasts and salads.Stayed for 9 days. Apartment only serviced once. Need to take towels for pool and then buy extras such as shampoo, toilet paper, cleaning products etc. Grt swimming pool on roof. Wonderful views. 15 min walk to station , beach-pebble and supermarket. Ideal locatiom for A8 motorway and easy access to Antibbes, the rest of the coast and the mountain villages such as Grasse and St Paul-def need a car for those.
Reception staff fantastic.
For the price-ideal location for families who dont want to be noisy locations. Lovely park next door-ideal for cyclists and runners and playgrnd for children -Henry

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel based on the other positive reviews I had read. Boy was I horribly mistaken. The first room we were placed in was perhaps the most preposterous room I've ever been in. The ceiling in the living room/kitchen area was 6 feet high. That's right, 6 feet. I'm just slightly taller than that so I had to crouch while I was walking around the room. We asked to be moved and they placed us in the room next door. During our entire stay the air conditioning was broken, and we were repeatedly told that the repair man was coming. After 6 days, the repair man never came and the room was still boiling hot. It was so hot that it was difficult to sleep at night. Several times the cleaning person "forgot" to replace the toilet paper, and she insisted on giving us two towels a day for the four of us. Also, only the rooms on the top most floors have a nice view, everything else either views the parking lot or the building next door. Our view was of a parking lot full of gorgeous Peugots. Also of note, there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel so a car is an absolute must. We thought it would be a good idea to get a room here for 4 people because it was less expensive than getting two rooms at any other hotel. Let me tell you, it was not worth it. Spend the money, stay closer to one of the more interesting attractions, and enjoy your vacation.

We booked the Seaside Park over the web only 10 days or so before we departed for Nice during the last week in May. There was a reasonable discount from the rack rate and while we were there the place did not seem anywhere near fully occupied - perhaps the pricing is not quite right? Certainly the extra 10 euros per day for use of all the pots, pans and plates was an unnecessary niggle, though we paid up (and made good use of the facility). You must check the inventory thoroughly, we found extras in some items but many others were missing (and were not replaced when we highlighted them to the girl on reception).

The staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke good english (though we were prepared to converse in french). The rooms are clean and immaculately designed - or tightly spaced if you prefer! We had a living room with sofa bed (which the children found more than adequate), four chairs and a kitchen table, cupboards and a tv. The kitchenette was in the corridor between the living room and the bedroom and the utilitarian (clean and modern but small) bathroom was behind the kitchen. The double bed occupied most of the space in the bedroom, there was just enough room to get around it. Storage and hanging space was pretty good though there was no obvious place to put our suitcases (one was too big to lie on the floor of the cupboard space, so we ended up leaving it on the floor where it was in the way only when getting in and out of bed). I agree with the previous reviewer in that the bed covers were ratty and should be renewed - ours were torn in places. Our apartment did not have a balcony and the few ants outside found it easy to get through an open window so we did find it difficult to dry our beach towels, especially after some late evening swimming. A good point for the hotel was that all our room towels were changed every day - perhaps to be expected, but we got the impression they were more than happy to give extra towels also.

The swimming pool was excellent. Depth is around 110cm throughout and there is plenty of space for play and for doing some short-length swimming. The pool area (which covers the entire roof of the building) allows for wonderful sunbathing, there are plenty of plastic and fabric sunloungers. The view from the roof isn't exactly stunning but it's not bad either - there's a good view of the sea and of Villeneuve Loubet itself. It would be wrong to labour the point too much as it was really not a problem for us, but the Seaside Park is in a largely commercial area with some sort of factory next door (no noise nuisance at all) and other commercial ventures round-abouts.

Fortunately we had a car for our holiday. There's not an awful lot to see or do close by the Seaside Park so some means of transport is necessary. We didn't quite get the hang of the train system, Villeneuve Loubet station was not staffed when we got there (5pm on our way into Nice) and the automatic ticket machine was a nightmare. Driving to Antibes (our favourite destination for evening meals) was a doddle as it was only a few minutes down the road. There is also a nice sandy beach at Antibes (drive through the Port area on towards Cap d'Antibes, there's a car park next to it).

Getting onto the A8 (toll) motorway was quick and easy and the N7 road is very useful for getting to and from the Airport (and to Nice itself, though the driving in Nice is somewhat manic!)

In summary, we were not at all disappointed with the Seaside Park and for that part of France I would imagine it represents good value family accommodation. There was the odd niggle but they were comparatively slight - hopefully Inter-Hotels will read their feedback and make the necessary alterations and adjustments?
