“Offa's Dyke Marvel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

We were made to feel very welcome after the 14 mile walk from Prestatyn, especially being picked up from Bodfari. The place is lovely, and in a tranquil rural setting. The tea & scones and breakfast in the homely kitchen were great. Fantastic place - would love to come back.

We loved this place. Having had a much longer walk than expected and getting slightly lost at the end, we were incredibly grateful for a pick-up by Hugh, followed immediately on arrival by the offer of a large glass of wine. And after a hot shower, a delicious meal in their gorgeous farmhouse kitchen. What more could we ask for. Oh, the chance to curl up on a comfy sofa in front of a log fire in a stone flagged living room, which we did. The house is beautiful, the hosts are welcoming and very flexible, and the setting is lovely. It's very informal and feels a bit more like staying with friends than in a b&b - none of that polite whispered conversation at the breakfast table. Sure the rooms aren't huge but they are very pretty and have loads of character. We don't b&b very often but we'd love to go back here. Great value too.

Like all the other reviews, we can't recommend this B&B highly enough. The house is in a wonderful location about a mile off Offa's Dyke but a quick phone call brought Hugh to pick us up - a welcome sight after a day walking the path, as indeed were the scones and pot of tea waiting for us. Hugh and Linda go out of their way to make you welcome and even took us to the pub in the evening for an evening meal. The breakfast the next morning was excellent, especially the locally sourced bacon, sausages and yogurt. And then a lift back to the start of the path - what more can you ask?

An excellent find for our first stop walking South on the Offa's Dyke path. The owners must be used to tired, wet walkers and couldn't have been more welcoming to the five of us. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable beds. Walking boots and coats dried in the kitchen overnight. Strongly recommend the full cooked breakfast with the local sausages, and if you are lucky you may be packed off with a scone. Hugh very kindly took us back to the path in the Land Rover in the morning - and even ferried one of us back again when we forgot the map! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Other reviews have commented, in rather curmudegonly fashion, about the lack of little bottles of shampoo etc. You gets what you pays for - yes, the rooms might be a little cramped and most have no en-suite, but you get a fantastic welcome, scones with jam and cream on arrival, superb hospitality, the offer of lifts to the local pub, fantastic cooked breakfasts (and where else are you offered asparagus from the garden with your Toulouse sausage?!), and a blazing log fire! We would wholeheartedly recommend to others.

This is in a delightful location just off the Offa's Dyke path. The very hospitable owners Hugh and Linda were most welcoming, typified by the scones and tea waiting for us after a day's walking. As it was a Sunday and there were no eateries open in the area Linda cooked a superb meal, beginning with fresh asparagus from their own garden. Our ensuite room was excellent in decor and outlook. We would recommend unreservedly.

Stayed here on our last night of walking the Offas Dyke Path. It's a good mile and a bit off the path but they will pick you up if you call and drop you back. Arrived to freshly baked scones with jam and cream. The owners are charming and good fun. They dropped us at the local pub for dinner where we had a very good meal.
We would definitely go back and stay longer given half the chance.
