just returned from the Versailles, we chose this hotel based on location/view, pool/terrace and price, not wanting to pay £500 plus a night (fairly difficult in VFSM) we stayed 3 nights, the hotel is by no means luxurious by fine for what we needed - somewhere close to the main old town, with a decent pool/terrace to spend time in the afternoons when too hot to go sightseeing. the hotel amenities in the room were fairly basic but clean, bed was comfortable and most importantly the air con good - essential given it was over 30 degrees every day! the only thing that we really missed and was surprised at lack of was a mini bar/fridge. fortunately there is a casino (mini supermarket) 2mins down the road so we bought bottled water/drinks there as well as at the hotel bar (which weren't overly expensive anyway - 5 euros for a beer / 6 for a wine). as previous reviewers have mentioned the rooms could do with updating, they are modern/minimal but not great condition, the door to our room was extremely difficult to open and lock every time we went in/out, also the blinds are metal electric shutters which plunge the room into pitch black, there is no half way point between light and dark! we only had breakfast in the hotel - fresh croissants/pastries each morning, great fruit salad, eggs, yogurts, coffee etc, again good for 15 euros pp. the location, although not right down by the harbourside or in the main town, was still fine albeit a steep climb back from the harbour, as we are fit this posed no problem. we easily jumped on the bus which goes right outside the hotel to monaco one direction, and nice the other. the hotel reception staff provided details of the 2 buses we needed to catch to visit Eze. The staff overall were very friendly and helpful, there were a few occasions when there seemed to be no one on reception or at the bar/restaurant which was odd and sometime the service was a bit haphazard but think this may just be the laid back style of the hotel? the views from both our room and the terrace bar and restaurant were great, straight over the bay across to cap ferrat.
overall, the hotel was fine for our requirements, and we had a perfectly good stay!

Room Tip: ask for a room that is on floor 3 or 2 - floor 1 is the reception/main entrance and floor 4 is the l...

Hotel Le Versailles was my last stop on a long European holiday and I couldn't have selected a lovelier place for my final days in France. I travelled alone and stayed for 4 nights the week of July 16, 2012. Upon arrival after a long train ride I found a refreshingly modern, yet charming, family operated hotel with the most beautiful vistas of the French Riviera I could have ever dreamed of. My room was immaculate with a comfortable bed, luxurious waterfall shower, dark wood floors, white accents and a massive balcony overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. I awoke to spectacular views of yachts and cruise ships and the ever changing hues of the blue water. Breakfast was included and served leisurely until 10:30am each morning by the pool; perfect for this late riser. The staff are all extremely friendly and inviting making a solo trip feel more like a gathering of friends. I was pleased to find complimentary wifi available in the lobby bar and restaurant, and was easily able to connect with the outside world. The restaurant is a destination all on it's own. Pretty pink linens compliment the rich dark tables and glass stemware. Gorgeous fresh white flowers throughout the space added to the paradise vibe and the food is 5 star. Try the gorgonzola gnocchi with a glass of rose. Delicieux! Also I was impressed with the hotel's selection of jewelry available for purchase; very beautiful and unique pieces at an extremely reasonable price point as in not often the case with gift shops in nice hotels. The town of Villefranche-sur-Mer is a destination in itself and only steps from the hotel door. I noticed a review on here from a traveller who had trouble with an arranged taxi. My experience was opposite. The hotel ordered me a car for a very early morning pick-up and it arrived on time whisking me to the Nice airport without issue and at a decent fare. Thank you to Hotel Le Versailles for a wonderful stay in this sweet home away from home. I will absolutely return!

We stayed at the Versailles for 4 nights at the end of our 2 week holiday in France and on arrival it's a bit of an emotional Rollercoaster. Hotel from the road . . . Oh Dear! Into reception and the bar area . . . Wow! And on into our room . . . :-(
The triple room we had was big, but poorly appointed, the shabby blind over a rail that served as the wardrobe made the room look like a hostel and the SQUEAKY laminate flooring was horrendous for a family with a little one who naps in the day! But views are really nice, the balcony was roomy and everything was clean, the pool was nice but despite going every day we never managed to get a lounger. Villefranche was nice and we found the walk down to town pleasant in July, but not sure I'd fancy it in the August heat. In short, if we returned to the area I think I'd try somewhere else next time.
Oh, and DON'T book a taxi with reception as ours didn't show and apparently that happens "all the time" the taxi's in Villefranche take bookings from 3 or 4 people at the same time then 2 or 3 get ditched. We nearly missed our train to Paris, next time we would just walk to the station in Villefranche and get the 5 min train to Nice!

We stayed at the Versailles recently, as part of a larger group in town to celebrate a friend's birthday. We used it as a crash pad as the main event was in Cap Ferrat - for that purpose it was totally fine. Very good views of the bay, nice bar (they opened up for us around 4am which was nice of them!) But - rooms are small and not nice - they have clearly tried to update the hotel with a nice new logo and other bits but the rooms and public areas are pretty shabby. Walls are paper thin and we were woken by everyone who passed through in the hallway. Really poor 15 euro breakfast buffet. Price was about 165 euros which isn't too bad for the area. I felt this hotel was fine if you were going to be out and about, but definitely not as a destination.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the end of the hallway - less noise maybe

This family owned hotel in Villefranche is perfectly located with an outstanding view. We recommend this hotel for everyone sleeping in the area around Nice. We where traveling with our kids (14, 16 years) and they loved the hotel.
We stayed there for 15 nights and every night was a blessing. Great rooms with and outstanding balcony. Very clean with new towels every day and free towels at the pool area. The hotel is perfectly located if you have a car or if you want to travel by bus, bus stop 15 meters from the hotel and is the best traveling around Nice( 10min to nice and 25 min to Monaco ).
The hotel has the best view ever and the food is amazing, with out doubt the best restaurant in the area. The people at the hotel is very friendly and helpfully. Really good value for money. Thanks to Nikolas and Alex. We will go back for 14 days next year.

Rooms look to have been recently refurbished (painted) while bathroom was like new - clean and comfortable. Parking was available in hotel car park and on the street. Bus stop very close to get into Nice and numerous restaurants are within walking distance. We found it to be good value for the area and would stay again.
