“Lovely market, but overcrowded in summer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Nice market with a good range of food, clothes and garbage, but always a great atmosphere. Be warned though, this is Saint Tropez so if you want a break be ready to pay 6€ for a cappucino!

“Lovely afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

I love the Place des Lices Market. You have a mix of fresh produce, cheese, olives and charcuterie. We picked up some fresh croissant and enjoyed stolling around the market. If you forgot anything this is the place to go! I bought a beach bag and hat from one of the vendors and I love them!

“Shop till you Drop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2011

In the center of St. Tropez, amongst 100 years old Plane trees, is the lovely little square known as the Place des Lices. Usually, you can sit on a bench and watch the locals playing a casual game of boules, but on the mornings of Tuesdays and Saturdays, the square is turned into a market that would satisfy any shopaholic! From 8am to 1pm, you will find dozens of stalls selling everything from cheese to cashmere, antiques to artichokes! It is the perfect place to buy all those little gifts (like lavender honey) for your friends and family back home. But even if you are not in the mood to purchase the latest in beach fashion, it is still fun to go up and down the isles browsing at all the kitsch, and taking in the gorgeous scents of pizza, paella, rotisserie chicken, lavender, roses, spices and herbs.
Locals know to arrive as soon after 8 am as possible. By 10 am the place has become so crowded with tourists that it is very hard to move, let alone see what's being displayed! Also, if you are driving into St. Tropez, the chances of finding a parking space are very slim, unless you arrive early in the morning.
So take my advice: arrive early, take lots of cash (but beware of the pickpockets!) and shop till you drop!
