Perfect location. Right in the perfect spot in the middle of the strip. The hotel did not have parking. The closest lot was about 10 blocks away from the hotel. The hotel did not have any deals either for parking. Other than that problem, the place was perfect. It was better than I expected. It was clean and perfect. We were there on our honeymoon and had no problems staying there. Very comfortable.

If you want to be in central St. Trop, you can't get a better location or a better value. The rooms were perfectly clean, the shower was substantial and their café is top.

The guy at the desk was bloody idiot, but we had friends to help us figure out our further travel logistics.

If you use your hotel as a place to sleep and spend the rest of your travel time out and about, there is no better bargain on the riviera. We cut cost, but not comfort in this great, harbor-front location, right next to the mythic Sénéquier.

  • Liked — The accept dogs and the location couldn't be beat.
  • Disliked — They guy at the front desk should have been better informed.

Best location in St Tropez?

There's no lack of quality hotels in St Tropez - and we've stayed in a lot over the years - but the Sube is different. Luxury it's not: the rooms, while immaculately clean and perfectly presented, are small and even the best (i.e. those facing the harbour) are cramped and fairly basic. And, the hotel's facilities are absolutely minimal - no restaurant, no guest lounge, no parking... pool? gardens? concierge?... forget it.

So why five stars? First off, it has the best location of any hotel in the centre of St Tropez because it's not only right in the heart of where all the action is but it's the only one that faces the harbour. Which means that if you choose one of its front rooms you get a million dollar view from your (very small) balcony. And secondly, it has, without doubt, the best bar in St Tropez... huge, stuffed full of wonderfully relaxing "old style" leather chairs and walls crammed full of "yachtie" pictures, oozing genuine atmosphere, and located on the first floor to give you the same million dollar view.

So, even if you're not in one of the front rooms, you get a charmingly simple, home made breakfast in the bar with time to soak in its views (open exclusively to residents until around 10.30 am) and, in the evening, you can enjoy its fantastic "pure St Tropez" feel safe in the knowledge that your bed is only a few steps away. And, of course, because the rooms are what they are it is, in St Tropez terms, amazingly good value.

Family run for decades it still retains the ramshackle "chic" that made St Tropez what it is... but enjoy it while it lasts because one day someone will convert it into an incredibly expensive, fully soundproofed, beautifully appointed but soul-less, designer hotel precisely because of its unique, world-class location... and, it won't be as good.

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we planned a 2 week trip on the French and Italian Riviera. First stop St Tropez! Stayed at the Sube 9/22 and 23/07. Had a beautiful view of the marina from the balcony of our room that was positioned right next to the Bar du Sube's balcony. Convenient for us and not a noise issue.
The room was a comfortable size w/ a makeshift king size bed. The bath was rather sizable and the tub/shower combo was acceptable. Interesting that there is no shower curtain to keep the water from shower getting all over, but we made it work.
There is no parking at the hotel, but you can drive right up to the entrance and drop off your bags and check in then take your car to the parking area as this might be a bit of a walk depending on day of the week and amount of tourists.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The early morning (5am or so) cleanup crew on the streets will definately wake you if you are on the marina side. Not much of an issue though as we were able to get back to sleep with no problems after they left (about 30 minutes).
Perfect location! Walking distance to everything! Great nearby museum which had a beautiful Picasso exhibit when we were there. Definately hit up Joseph L'Escale for a wonderful dinner with an awesome wine list!
Will definately stay at the Sube again!

The hotel is about 10mins walk from the bus stop (St. Raphael - St. Tropez) but probably 13mins walk with luggage. It's right on the pier so you can gaze at all the yachts parked right outside the hotel all you want. The location is pretty good for the price we paid (EUR 140/night in early Sept). We booked by calling the hotel and reserving the room. Everything is super expensive in St Tropez. Definitely a 2 star hotel with the quality of the rooms, but at least it seemed clean. They don't have hair dryers in the rooms so you need to borrow one from the reception each time. It's very noisy at night (but it suddenly stops soon after midnight) so don't stay here if you have problems getting to sleep. They have a bar on the ground floor and they blast their music all night long. The breakfast was EUR 9/person so I would suggest you can go outside to look for things to eat in the morning. They serve just a continential breakfast as usual. The "double bed" is actually two single beds put next to each other, so couples be warned! I encountered similar experience in other parts of France, so I guess this is the usual practice?!? Everything is within walking distance, there are restaurants right outside the hotel on the pier, but I would suggest to walk uphill a bit (behind the hotel) to look for restaurants that serve better food at more reasonable prices (still expensive!). The front desk is not much help to give directions and suggestions, but the tourist information centre is just to the right of the hotel (if you facing the sea), so you can easily get information there. I would suggest this hotel for people who want to experience St. Tropez at cheap prices but still need clean rooms. There is also a nicer hotel called La Ponche, which we originally wanted to book, but was full. This one is located in old town and seemed very decent from the outside. Loads of small shops and restaurants right outside this hotel, but it's a bit of a walk from the bus stop which takes you to St. Raphael (for the train to/from Paris), especially if you have luggage!
