Description: "And God ... created the French Riviera"From a small fishing village to a gorgeous resort on the Mediterranean coast, internationally well-known since the '50s, SaintTropez has become the epicenter of the French Riviera and Sénéquier, its cardinal point. The café was founded in 1930 on the harbour and on the village side, the patisserie which was established in 1887 is still there, located at the “Place Aux Herbes”.When the first artists, writers and actors landed on the peninsula of Saint-Tropez in the late 19th century, the Sénéquier family was already sharing their ancestral recipes: White nougat, tart tropézienne and candied fruits. The large red terrace with its splendid view over the harbor came much later, as a "Tea Room" at first, a frame for the homemade pastries and sweets, and then, as "Le Café Sénéquier", a privileged observatory of the "Nouvelle Vague” (an art movement in French cinema from 1956 to 1963) and an eternal scene of the French Riviera.Mediterranean RedSome 125 years have passed and Sénéquier remains faithful to its family traditon and Mediterranean values such as authenticity, quality, pleasure and friendliness. On the red terrace of this famous "Red Sénéquier", like nowhere else, enjoy the sun, the heat, the food, the entertainment... The Mediterranean.

“For the Rich only!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

The harbour side café looked very inviting, with red awnings and décor, and as our spouses were shopping this seemed ideal for a beer. Without looking at the menu we ordered two beers. At 17 Euros for a small glass of beer this must rank as the most expensive in France. Good people watching though, but not for a second beer! Our spouses found us and ordered 2 cokes; 8.50 euros gone! The service wasn't that impressive either!

“Poor Service. Expensive Food. Great people-watching”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

OMG, $9 Euros for a cafe! Better eavesdrop on the neighboring table...for the next big deal. Or spot a celeb, cause the people-watching is the only value of this famed hot spot.

“The biggest RIP-OFF on the PLANET”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

We ordered a couple of beers not checking the menu - having lived in expensive places including Hong Kong I generally don't bother to ask ...

But Oh My God - the bill comes for 3 beers and it's USD51!!!!

Talk about taking the piss - 10 bucks ok (although even that is a bit much).

But 17!!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE - there are places nearby where you can watch the freaks jacked up on botox mount their floating blasphemies that charge 10 bucks for a full pint (not a bottle).

“Great people watching”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

I just wanted to come to Cafe Senquier given that it is right on the St Tropez port, and as it was the venue for one of Chanel's RTW shows a few years ago. Of course prices were high, higher than places like Monaco... but service was really good and attentive, not mention good looking ;-)
It is definitely a place to see and be seen. Would deifnitely go again.

“Overpriced and snobby”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

The only, really the only reason to pay this place a visit is its location and the view on the port, forget about being treated with care or getting anything to eat or drink which is worth the exorbitant price.
