“Really nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2011

I was spending here a part of my Honeymoon and I have to say that everything was amazing.
The Receptionists are really prepared and very friendly.
The Room was really big and quiet. The Swimming-pool has the right Temperature and is a really peaceful place.
You are really quick in San Paul.
If you need a relaxing holiday break, this is the right place for you.

My wife and I spent our first night in France at La Mas de Pierre, and their welcoming staff made it really count. We relaxed with a massage at the spa and enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the parlor and outdoor patio area. The Bistrot was an amazing outdoor restaurant with stellar service and beautiful presentations of each course. Our jetlag was gone within a few hours and good night's sleep in our hotel room in the main Le Mas de Pierre house.

A wonderful retreat several miles inland from the bustle of Cagnes-sur-mer. To get to it you drive through an industrial estate, but then once you've come off the main road, and gone for less than a mile up the hill, you're in a different world.

And once you've negotiated the somewhat starchy receptionists you're in an oasis of tranquility: Beautiful gardens, box hedges, honeysuckle, paving stones, vines, a dovecote and swimming pool, all blend to produce a low key, double story converted farm house, dripping with discrete service, style and effortless class. Gardeners beever away (Lady Chatterley would have loved this place), while staff glide noiselessly past in the pursuit of their duties.

Very spacious bedrooms, each with its small balcony, overlook the grounds, including its herb garden, outbuildings and gazebos, onto the hills beyond. And, as importantly, the rooms have electric shutters that turn day into night in a matter of seconds. On the three mornings that we awoke, after 10 o'clock, the room was pitch dark, but with the flick of a switch was bathed in soft, Mediterranean spring sunshine.

As for the food, there are two restaurants, one for those who like their menu Gourmand, and one for those mortals who don't have time to take out a mortgage whenever they eat. We chose the latter which was both excellent and good value.

Good sized swimming Pool surrounded by sunbeds and alcoves sheltering the midday sun. When we were there, at the end of April, we had the place to ourselves, but I imagine August isn't quite so tranquil and the gin clear water takes on a clouded hue.

Complaints? Absolutely none, although we did fail to see the purpose of the two plastic sheep grazing on the grass as we approached the front door in our car. Come to think of it, no-one could explain to us the meaning of various metal sculptures positioned on the front lawn, or indeed, whether they really were the right way up, or not.

The place oozes peace and quiet, so would certainly go back, but not in high season..

Great hotel off of the beaten path. Located in a residential neighbourhood this hotel is very quiet while sporting impressive grounds and views of the mountains.

We stayed for 2 nights and were very satisfied with our stay. If possible, book a package deal as you will save a lot in the restaurant. We did not do this as we were not sure our schedule until the day we got there, so we paid double for the meal because we didn't book a packaged deal.

Our room was excellent. Only one negative to say: the toilet was in its own little room and did not have a sink in it. You had to walk into the main part of the room and then into the bathroom were there was a sink....not the most hygienic system.

The pool was very nice and the exercise facilities were decent. Lush gardens and peaceful/relaxing atmosphere.

The staff was helpful when we checked in/out. People were friendly and knowledgeable of the area.

The dining room was nice, food was really good but the wait staff seemed really young and save for one or two people they were not that great at their jobs.

Overall, an excellent stay...I highly recommend this property.

My husband and I went to the Mas de St Pierre for a short break. It is a lovely place and well positioned just out side St Paul. We had a well appointed if rather small room with a terrace. The bar and restaurant were good and the service in both was excellent.. Unfortunately, the two ladies on the front desk were surly and discourteous to us from the minute we walked in when we were ignored for a good ten minutes. This disregard continued through our stay and when we failed to get any hot water out of the bathroom on Saturday evening our request for help was ignored. We eventually gave up waiting for the promised assistance and went out. As we left the hotel the next day I asked what had happened and was told that they had checked several hours after I'd asked for help and there had been hot water. Instead of the simple sorry we were looking for (after all these things do happen)the lady at reception looked at us as if this problem had been a figment of our imagination and explained she had been very busy on Saturday night! Not what a customer should face at an expensive and high class hotel.

We stayed here for two weeks in August, I have a 8 month old baby and a two year old daughter. The hotel is fantastic and the staff couldn't do enough to assist. It's very rare to find such a lovely hotel that manages to feel like a 5 star boutique hotel but is also great for kids. Outstanding!
