“BEST salad lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

My friend and I scoped out the entire strip before settling here, not for any particular reason but just because we didn't feel like turning back. I am so glad we did because these were the best salads we've had during our south of France vacation. Prices were reasonable, service was good, and the patio was great. The salads were fancy and flavourful. I got the seafood salad and there was a lot of food.

Highly recommended, one of the best finds in town.

“Recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

In early May I dined here with friends. The 3 of us live on Cap Ferrat, and have done so for very many years. My friends eat regularly in this restaurant, having tried most of the others in this small village. We had a good meal from the set menu, and there was a good choice of dishes. The wine chosen was also good. My share of the meal was 40 Euros, which I consider very reasonable for the quality of the food served here.

“Pirate of the Mediterranean”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

A lovely Winter morning in November, perfect for a walk along the coastal path leaving Beaulieu and arriving in St Jean in time for lunch. The Pirate was open. I had dined here long ago in the height of Summer, I remember it was packed then. To- day we were two of six diners. The many blackboards offered a staggering choice of fixed price menus, the most expensive being 28euros for three courses from the carte, any entree, any plat plus a dessert. We chose from the 22 euro two course menu checking the price at the top of the page. I had oysters and Marmite de Pecheur, my companion fish soup and the plat de jour, wild boar spaghetti. The food was enjoyable but not amazing - the bill the opposite. With the bottle of wine and two coffees the bill should have been 73 euros, we paid 92.90 Instead of the advertised prix fixe we had been charged for everything at the al a carte rate. When challenged we were told we should have specified we wanted the fixed price menu when ordering "as the portions are smaller on the fixed price". I asked why the waiter had not asked us when we ordered, as they were offering any two courses from the a la carte menu it did not seem necessary to us. The idea of smaller portions for customers on a fixed menu was a new one for us. Obviously the restaurant was well-named. Eventually the manager owner rather shame faced pushed a ten euro note across the bar - I didn't take it.
