“Good, but not star quality”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Nice restaurant and friendly but a bit anonymous service. We had a tasting menu with wine pairing and food varied from fantastic (oyster starter) to bland (lamb main course). Wines were nicely matched with the food, but the pairing was not exceptional.

Compared to any of the one-star restaurants in Sweden, this was lower standards, but to be fair it is also half the price...

“Wonderful Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

It is gratifying to find overall Tripadvisor reviews that are consistent with this excellent restaurant. Preparation and flavours were distinctive. The filet with the wasabi sauce was to die for. Wine list is excellent and good values abound. Chef Matsushima unobtrusively wonders around and is more than pleased to talk to his guests which are an international crowd.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

We recently visited this restaurant whilst on a short break to Nice. It appealed to us as it has a Michelin star - so we were expecting a quality meal. We were not disappointed. The lunch menu changes every week, and is helpfully displayed outside the restaurant. The set lunch menu was 20 euros for two courses, or 28 for three. Wine packages are available - we paid an additional 15 euros each for two glasses of wine each followed by a coffee.

The menu was great- we started with a gambas ravioli in minestrone soup - delicious. This was followed by the shoulder of lamb curry. The lamb must have been in a water baths for days - so tender. Desserts equally as good. The lunch took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. We both felt the staff were very friendly and efficient, and the food excellent. Certainly worth this amount of money for a restaurant of this standard.

Nice has many restaurants, but when you visit you do realise that many of the places essentially have the same menu. If we go back, this would be the first place I'd go back to - different class.

“Quite good with very efficient service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

We ordered 2 set lunch, for starters, sardine with potato salad was average, while corn soup with duck foie gras and meat was excellent, for main, fish was average, while lamb shoulder with curry rice was quite good, desserts were ok. The service was very efficient as we finished the meal within 1 hour.

“Exquisite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

I have a conflict reviewing this because if people take notice of this review and bookings increase significantly, I don't want to not be able to get in here when we return to Nice - or for things to change from the perfection we experienced over 2 exquisite nights at Keisuke Matsushima. On the other hand, it is such a great restaurant that they deserve to be appreciated at that level; so here I am reviewing it!

We had been travelling around the south of France on basically a degustation and lavender viewing trip. We dined at one great restaurant every day; typically Michelin starred but not chosen for that reason. Some we haven't reviewed: we weren't that impressed but we didn't think it fair to publicly criticise a quality restaurant on one experience that might have been atypical.

Anyway, we arrived here and each ordered the top degustation menu and a fabulous bottle of wine (they have a great wine list). By the time they had served us a free amuse bouche and the first of 9 (small) courses, we there and then booked for the next night (and cancelled a booking at an iconic restaurant elsewhere). This proved to be a great decision - every dish that followed was just so special: beautiful creations, perfectly cooked; extremely elegant and with a range of delightful flavours. The next night we ordered a la carte and were just as impressed.

I'm not going to say any more ... except we can't wait to get back!
