I'm not much of a pub/bar person. However when I do go to one, I do appreciate being able to have conversations with the friends and acquaintances accompanying me.
At Wayne's Bar (where my friends took me on one fine spring evening in May), this is simply impossible because you have live bands performing awful music at loud volume. The place is small and the lack of room can get very uncomfortable during spring and summer in Nice, which has some of the hottest temperatures across France.
I don't remember how much the drinks cost, I think the prices were in line with other bars in the Old Nice area. But if you want to visit a nice bar/pub in Nice, there are plenty more in the surroundings which will give you a more pleasant experience than Wayne's.
On the other hand, if you like loud, out of tune music and if you enjoy the sight of drunken and totally unaware British tourists, this is a place where you will enjoy yourself.

Dear PrAppadoo, thanks for you feedback and comments. I think you've summed it up in your first paragraph and maybe you picked the wrong place to enjoy your night out in Old Nice. Although our sun-drenched terrace is a delightful place for a quiet drink and a convivial chat with old friends during the day, after dark it is time to party and we make no apologies for that! Our reputation is forged on great live music, on excellent service, and upon providing a cosmopolitan melting-pot for bon viveurs of all nationalities to enjoy themselves. If you like live music but don't like to be too close to the action we do have a partitioned restaurant area with a delicious a la carte menu. It's incredibly busy so prior reservations are recommended for weekend bookings.
