Some of the advantages of this hotel are obvious and can be appreciated almost at once - the beautiful rooms, perfect service, the garden with the palm trees and the orange tree, the petit déjeuner, as generous as it is delicious, the very comfortable beds. Some other aspects will require a little more time (a few days) to be fully appreciated. Most important of all - the lovely atmosphere created by the propriétaires which makes one feel taken care of in a way that is at once relaxed, efficient, unobtrusive and friendly. The TV set is top quality - we might even have looked at a program or two if the room (quiet, calm, airy) had not been so inviting for reading the books we found in the book-shops of Nice (and the lighting by the bed is perfect for reading! - this is not always the case in a hotel room, to be sure). A few minutes' walk away there is the Promenade des Anglais, the beach, the Mediterranean and, certainly more often than not, the sun shining from the ever so blue sky (claimed by Yves Klein to be his first work of art, but available to sign for anyone who is susceptible to this powerful experience, so far from your computer in the office...). Restaurants abound, of course, but for a cineaste the proximity to Cinéma Rialto (12 minutes on foot) with the really good films shown in V.O. is even more exhilarating. Imagine all this (or anything else you would rather prefer) and add to that the marvelous feeling of having a home of your own in this charming villa from the last turn of the century - well, then you are close to feeling how it is to stay at Villa les Cygnes. And yes, we have already planned our next few trips to Nice and to our Villa les Cygnes.
