“Beautiful....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

What a delight, in the hustle of Nice this place is an oasis, only a few minutes walk to the beach and not much further to the town, our hosts were delightful, ask Rene where to go for dinner and he will make reservations .

We stayed here for 3 nights in August. Rémy and Bénédicte were perfect hosts. If you are going to Nice this is the perfect place to stay because I cannot think of anything that could be improved. The location is also excellent for the beach, town and amenities.

We stayed at Villa les Cygnes in early July, and it was our third visit to this hotel. Obviously, we are big fans. First, I must say that if you are looking for a traditional hotel with a big lobby, busy front desk, and people passing through, this is not the place for you. Villa les Cygnes is small and special and full of charm.

This summer we stayed on the second level in a large, beautiful room that had a spacious, attached sunroom. The bathroom was enormous by European standards, with the great luxury of two sinks. Since our last visit, Villa les Cygnes has been awarded three stars, so we were interested to see what changes might have been made. Our room had a safe, a new flat-screen television, and a small refrigerator, which all added to our comfort.

The location of this hotel is ideal. It is on a hill in a quiet residential area, but you can easily walk all over the city. In fact, walking is our favorite thing to do in Nice, and the famous Promenade des Anglais is a very short walk from the hotel.

Every year, I say the best thing about this hotel is its owners. Remy and Benedicte are warm and welcoming and eager to please their guests. They are happy to chat and very patiently endure my efforts at French. At the end of a busy day, returning to Villa les Cygnes almost feels like coming home.

If your looking for a quiet little spot to stay then this is a great place. About 10 15 min walk to the main centre of Nice it is ideal, we had a first floor room which was spacious, light and airy and very quaint with all the modern conveniences. Breakfast out in the rear garden was a delight on a sunny morning.Benedicte was most helpful and spoke good English. The owners could not have been more lovely and I would defininately stay here again.!

My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 nights at the end of June, 2012. The owners were welcoming and warm and we relaxed right away after a long train ride. Although there is no elevator, Remy brought our suitcases up to our spacious, beautiful room. Benedicte showed us all the little details like the air conditioning and the in-room safe, and her feminine touch was everywhere. Being two women who have traveled together quite a bit we appreciated the decor, the sunlight and the large well appointed bathroom. Having two sinks and a roomy cabinet for toiletries underneath was delightful. We also loved our little balcony, refridgerator and our coffeemaker. We sat out in the morning before breakfast and enjoyed the view. Breakfast was another unexpected delight. Yogurt, cheeses, fresh fruit, orange juice, a basket of pastries and and a hot baked dish were more than enough to start the day. What a find!

We stayed here for the first four days of our honeymoon and it was totally fabulous! (11th July 2012) The couple who own the hotel are the sweetest most lovely couple on the planet and I wanted to take them home! I loved the decor of the room and the bathroom was spacious. Slippers were a nice touch. Great to have a mini fridge in the room for wine and keeping water cold. The room was kept immaculate throughout. Breakfast in the garden is wonderful. We highly recommend it and would absolutely go back! Apologies for rating the pool as there isn't one!

Room Tip: I Think we stayed in room 2 that had a nice balcony overlooking the front.

Great location if you want somewhere peaceful but within walking distance of bay/promenade, nice local restaurants, shops & bus services. We pretty muched walked everywhere (from hotel to port takes about 45 mins & that incompassed the whole promenade).

Beautiful building with clean, large & pretty rooms (inc good bathrooms with shower) & ours had an amazing sun terrace with a table & chairs.

Pretty garden available where breakfast is laid on (€12/each) - plentiful but there was no pressure to have it.

There is a/c in the rooms but this gets turned off at night- not a problem for us though.

Very secure hotel & the service from the owners was great & friendly but not overly intrusive. They were able to answer all our touristy questions & the rooms were immaculate on our return each day.

To get to this hotel from the airport you can get a taxi (this cost us €40 to travel about 10km but it was at 11pm). If the buses are still running you can get the 23 & get off at 'grossocum' stop (takes about 20 mins) and it's max a 5 min walk from there (head to the musee des beaux arts & the hotel is on the road to the right) & will cost you €1 each- we did it on the way back to the airport and it was fine.

If we went back to Nice we would definitely stay here again & have already been recommending it to family & friends.
