“Peaceful & relaxing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2011

This is an extremely quiet and relaxing place to stay in a very pleasant area of Nice. The owners gave me a very warm welcome on arrival and each morning, when I went down for breakfast in the hotel's garden - eating marmalade made by the owners with oranges from the very trees I was sitting under - a nice way to start the day.

My room and bathroom were very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bedroom was spacious, cool and fresh. The bed was comfortable and I had wonderful nights' sleep. After spending 2 nights there, over the weekend, at the start of my holiday, I felt relaxed and refreshed.

I do not think this hotel will suit people who want to be in the centre of Nice, surrounded by shops and restaurants. However, I highly recommend it, if you want an experience of seclusion, calm and peace, away from the hustle and bustle of life and still have access to everything that Nice and the French Riviera have to offer.

Madame and Monseiur could not have been more welcoming. They are charming, funny and helpful. We were guests in their lovely home and treated as such. Les Cygnes is located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood that is just a short walk to all that Nice has to offer. The rooms are large with sitting areas or small balconies. We've stayed there twice in rooms 3 & 5. They prepare a satisfying breakfast. We were lucky enough to have fresh juice from the orange trees in the garden.

We loved staying here with Remy and Benedicte. The other reviews were pretty much spot on. Rooms are a good size with a balcony (biggest is the ground floor, I think) and large bathrooms. The villa is on a quiet street in a fairly wealthy part of Nice near the Musee des Beaux-Artes. I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend to friends.

Breakfast is nice enough (and I am picky) though is an extra 10 euro per person. We felt that this was not really made clear (they asked us when we arrived whether 9 am was ok for breakfast and we said it was fine). The 40 euro sting after two nights was a surprise and you might want to consider other options (like a walk along the beach before breakfast at La Pain a Table near the market).

You might especially want to consider such an option if you are a late riser. R&B want you out by 10 every morning to get the cleaning started. It's really not a problem even if (like my girlfriend) you usually like to sleep pretty late and it's good to be a little bit disciplined about getting out and about when you're on holiday. But if you're a real late night animal you might want to look elsewhere.

The service rendered was expected and they were very welcoming. Although I thought that the language barrier was abit annoying since the female owner actually could speak English (Didn't know why she still spoke in French). We're a pretty young couple so we felt abit restricted with the things that we want to do. The room was simple yet authentic and we liked the simplicity and the cleanliness of the room & bathroom.
Location-wise, it's quiet and just a few minutes away from Promenade Des Anglais which we really loved. We would walk down to the nearest Pizzeria to buy take-away pizza.
All in all, it was good but we felt that this would be much suited for mature couples. Because they serve breakfast strictly at 9am and somehow even if you say no cleaning, they would like to clean your room everyday still. Or we're just vacation brats. Anyhow, I would recommend it to my friends for sure, if they would like to have some romantic quiet time & be well-taken care of in the villa.

Room Tip: Close to restaurants for late snacks.

A charming hotel in a quiet, leafy nighborghood near the Musee des Beaux Arts. Our room was tremendous, as was the bathroom. Althought the furnishings were minimal, they were authentically French. I loved the view of old-world buildings and blossoming trees from the tiny balcony . Buses which travel to the center of Nice travel close to the hotel. Otherwise, it is a 20 minute walk. Unfortunately, it rained throughout much of our stay, and we did not discover the stairs which served as a significant shortcut from the top of the hill on which the hotel is perched until we were about to leave. I'm pretty sure our hosts (charming, friendly, welcoming, and one of the highlights of our stay) tried to tell us about them, but the language barrier interfered with our understanding. If you stay here, there's a great place for take-away quiche, pissaladiere, bread and pastries nearby on the Rue de France.

We spent 3 nights in March at Hotel Villa les Cygnes and thought it was great. Well located so that walking into the heart of Nice, the beach or the train station was easy but still far enough out of the tourist strip to be more laid back and quiet. Also car parking right out the front on the street which was excellent for us as we were driving around France.

The room was a little Spartan but huge and had a lovely little balcony. Only real negative was the shower - zero water pressure made showering less than fun and hair washing near to impossible.

Breakfast was good - way too much of everything but it was all delicious. The hosts were friendly and obliging - a few language barriers but nothing unmanageable.

Would definitely stay again.

From the moment you arrive you feel as if you are meeting that member of the family you have so looked forward to meeting without knowing it. We have been driving around France and Italy and have stayed in many varied hotels, this one is by far the best.

Upon pushing the doorbell we were greeted by the owners smiling faces and warm handshakes, then ceremoniously shown the room and the workings of this delightful bed and breakfast hotel.

Excellent room, perfect location, parking out the front, fabulous breakfast and the best sleep either of us has had this trip. Outstanding service and value for money will see this place overrun with enquires in no time.
