“Nice out of season”

You are travelling individually and prefer to abstain from large chain hotels but not from appropriate comfort and well feeling?
Then Nice Garden Hotel with its 10 chambers might be adequate for you. Situated in the middle of the town at a rather quiet location and in footwalking distance from the pedestrian area at rue Massena, you are there, where you want to be. It has a wonderful garden, where you can take your breakfast or recover from your excursions.
In the evening you can linger to the sea promenade, excess your planned budget and take an aperitif at the Hotel Necropole nearby. Afterwards you might walk to the Old Town next to the harbour to have your seafood dinner in one of the Cours Saleya restaurants.
If you like more walking, it is no huge effort to reach the Chagall and Matisse-Museum or the Franciscan Monastery in the Cimiez-Quarter, though you might use also the recently completed tramway. The architectonically impressing museum for Asiatic arts (Kenzo Tange) near the airport is better reached by public transport.
Nice is worthy a visit especially when you can retreat into a friendly and personal atmosphere!

Good location. Very attentive and friendly service. Small boutique style hotel with average sized rooms that are very clean. The best part of the hotel is the garden. Very secluded with lots of greenery, tables and chairs. Quiet and retreat like for your wine and cheese afternoons.

We stayed here our first night in France. The hotel was not easy for us to find and parking was down the street in a city garage. (We did not realize this) Our room was right inside the door and almost out in the lobby; we could hear everything that was said in the lobby and they I am sure could hear us. The breakfast room was lovely and the breakfast was fine. The owner was so very nice and helpful. If we had had a different room, I am sure we would have had a better experience.

Grade: C

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the Garden Inn; not in the front.

Well, originally we wanted to choose a fancy four star hotel, but ended up choosing the "Nice Garden Hotel" which I kept thinking meant "nice as in pleasant" but realized afterwards it was named after the town! The staff couldn't have been nicer. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed it, although the November rains put a damper on our use of the garden and of the outside area to which our room was connected. I would not recommend staying here in winter months, as it's really perfect for warm weather.

Room Tip: There are only 9 rooms; we were lucky to have been upgraded to a superior (#1) which was great.

We booked here as a result of the reviews on tripadvisor. We had one in of the garden rooms and when we arrived had a great warm welcome from the owner, which was followed up with all of the staff we met. Our room was more than big enough and looked out onto the lovely gardens where we were lucky enough to have our breakfast in each morning. Room has plenty of character and typical French style. Our only slight issue was the internal shower room. Whilst small but perfectly functional, it does need better ventilation, as there are signs of black spot mould in the tile grouting and a musty smell. Sorry guys, I have a thing about that!

It's the people that make this such a nice place to stay. The staff are delightful - nothing is ever too much trouble, and they go out of their way to be helpful. We stayed here with my 83 year old mother, and they were so kind and understanding, particularly letting us use the garden and facilities when we had a late flight.

If what matters to you is swish luxury, this isn't the right place for you. If it's the atmosphere and people that make the difference for you, you won't find anything better. What's more, the location is great - really central - and the garden is absolutely lovely.
