We drove to Nice from Paris via Nuits St. George, Beaune, Tain Hermitage, Chateauneuf du Pape, Avignon, Arles, and Toulon. Hands down the best meal we had on this entire adventure. The menu reflects locally sourced ingredients and changes daily based on the chef's (who we met) whim. The food are cooked to perfection, with perfect seasoning and accompaniments. I had a beautifully prepared John Dory, another one of us had a burger topped with foie gras and 2 of us had a fresh pasta dish (sorry can't remember the name) We always shared with each other and I can attest to the deliciousness of all of the entrees. The wine list is short but contains careful selections from the region plus a special white Burgundy. They also have a full bar. It was a dreary 10 days with snow and/or rain on all but 1 day. Jeremy and Gregoire (brother owners) made all 4 of us feel welcome, warm and cozy. The interior is typical limestone rustic (we love this) brightened up with shiny tableware and white linens. Robert (maitre d' and server extraordinaire) and his compadre (lovely woman who exuded the same warmth as everyone else with a gentle sophistication) worked as a team to assure that we were comfortable and happy with our choices.
This restaurant is located 1/2 block off the flower market, toward L'Opera, just off th emain tourist drag. The sign is tiny. Smart tourists will veer off the the street with the market to find this lovely gem. Here's the address. Google it! 1 Rue Opéra 06300 Nice, France
