“Fine, but way out of the way”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

I thought this hotel was fine, but boy was it far from everything except what I think is a sports complex. I think the only way to reach it is by rental car or a fairly long taxi ride from the airport, any train station, downtown, or the corniche. When I say "fine", it's in contrast to the airport ETAP, and to try to redeem myself after my review of that one. This was a typical ETAP, in my opinion. Everything you would expect of one, and clean, everything in good order. Free wireless in the lobby only. Parking was free. Free. (For this reason, I don't know if the above review was about this hotel. It sounds like one of the other Nice ETAPs.)

If you are driving, the directions are mostly easy, but it's another where you must pass it on the main road, and have to work your way back to its frontage road from a future offramp. If you don't see it and get off at your next chance, you're on the Peage (paying) to Grenoble etc.

I don't know if I'd recommend it to a friend. It's very inexpensive, but that's mitigated by how far it is from everything. You'll likely pay MUCH more for a cab than you will save by staying there (e.g., by paying less than the ETAP Californie, one block off the Cote d'Azure). So, I'm going to click the thumbs down button -- unless you're driving.

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stopped at. It is unacceptably dingy and creepy and a lot of it is dirty. As for the staff, they are unfriendly, verging on hostile.

You have to pay 5 Euros for the car parking, and we felt quite unsafe when we drove into it: you have to go through a series of 3 gates, and after you pass each one, the underground area gets darker and creepier. The parking area smells horrible, and we felt very uncomfortable going from the car to the room.

The room itself is, at best, below average - it was quite dirty, and you can tell that the "cleaning" staff don't care.

I just cannot believe how much Etap have let themselves down here: I have just written a review for one of their hotels in Rouen, and the difference between that hotel and this one is unbelievable - you'd never believe that both of these hotels are part of the same chain!!

I have nothing positive to say about this place - 69 Euros is a complete rip-off and I recommend you DO NOT STOP AT THIS HOTEL.
