Just got back from one week stay during mid July at this hotel. I booked on laterooms.com for 59 Euros a night. We were in room 105, which direcly faced the highway. (If you don't like noise, ask for something that doesn't face the highway). While I was thrilled to be paying this low for a decent room, it was definitely noisy and had the motel feel to it of slamming doors waking you up at all hours of the day and night and drunk guests coming in at all sorts of hours of the morning and making noise (maybe the stag party in the previous post...lol). In other words, 2* hotels sometimes draw 2* clients... don't hesitate to complain to the front desk though. They resolved the problem for us. My room was the same as the photos in the previous posting. Don't get me wrong, the same room goes for twice as much on the strip by the beach, so I'm happy. As the previous poster replied, having the bus station (gare rotiere) about a 3 minute walk away made things very nice - especially for day tripping to antibes and monaco. Forget about renting a car with this hotel. There is no free parking, and the pay parking is outrageous - like 25 euros a day.
While the old Nice restaurants
positives - location - 10 minute walk to the beach, - air conditioning - very good when a heat wave hits like it did for us, very friendly staff (maids, service desk, etc), english speaking service desk, good maid cleaning every day - fresh towels, etc. Free coffee and tee
negatives - 2* motel feel - slaming doors, noisy guests, etc. Generally did not get good sleep. one of two beds was lumpy and uncomfortable.
All in all, definitely would recommend. Get a room away from the noisy highway though if you are sensitive to sounds and noise.
