I have just returned from 5 nights in Nice. Myself and 7 others (all male - it was a Stag weekend!) stayed at the Campanile Hotel in Boulevard Risso (next to the Acropolis Exhibition Centre). We only paid 69 Euros per room per night (on their website) and found the hotel to be very clean and very friendly. The rooms were small but were very well presented. The shower was very good (always a plus!) and there were clean towels 7 days a week. The buffet breakfast is excellent for only 7 euros - you can even juice your own oranges from a large basket of them on the breakfast table!
It is only 10 minutes walk to the Cours Saleya and the sea front.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a MID BUDGET hotel

This is a great budget hotel in Nice.
I stayed here 5 nights in June 2005. If you're here on business and attending the Acropolis Centre, it's a perfect location - it is so close you can see the acropolis from the the hotel.

Also the hotel is in a great location for the museum of modern and contemporary art, also other art galleries which I can't remember.
Vieux Nice (Old Town) is certainly the most interesting part of nice, with its little winding maze of streets, tonnes of little boutiques etc. The Campanile Acropolis is in a superb location for walking to the old town. You can walk to the Cours Saleya (excellent for market stalls and restaurants/bars) in about 10/15 minutes, and that's walking very slowly (as everyone seems to in the city). Then the beach is just a few steps further.

The hotel is tremendously clean with courteous staff. I asked for a double room for single occupancy but was given a triple room - loads of space to spread out! The bathrooms are excellent, clean and functional, the shower was powerful and a few toiletries and fresh towels were replaced daily. There was only one power socket that I could find in my room but this was fine for my stay. Oh, and there was a bath with overhead shower in the bathroom, the bath was a very welcome surprise in a hotel room. There was also a decent amount of clothes hanging space and coat-hangers.#

The air conditioning was very welcome and worked well.

Do not expect to get a hairdryer if the hotel is busy!! I asked every day to find they had all been loaned out already. I wonder how many there are...

Breakfast at 7 euros was not bad value as there was plenty of choice. (cold meats and cheeses, french pastries, breads, jams, eggs (ready boiled or cook-your-own), toaster, orange juice, coffees and selecyion of teas, fruit and yoghurts...)

Overall I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Nice for business or pleasure.
It is very clean and good value for money. The loaction is great too.

The city is undergoing extensive roadworks at the moment (building a tramline i think) so you need to leave extra time to get from the hotel to the airport and the taxis seem to find the route rather difficult.

We stayed at this hotel last May-2004-and were very pleased with it.
Very clean,very convenient to local shopping,bus station,the port.the Promenade, art galleries etc.
The buffet breakfast restaurant is exceptional and the staff friendly.
Rooms are compact (small) but have everything you need.
We have used this hotel in Alicante as well,it is much bigger than Nice with a full restaurant which served me up the best T bone steak I have had in a long time!
