“Luxury!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

It bills itself as a five star luxury hotel, and the Palais de la Medterranee achieves that standard.

We checked in late after a particularly trying journey (got off the train at the wrong station and it all went downhill from there...) However the checkin clerk made us feel very welcome and personally accompanied us to our room.

The suite (No 705) was very large - about twice the floor area of adjacent suites - and included a balcony looking into the atrium. Sea views were limited to glimpses from the high-set bedroom window and between the front columns from the balcony.

The bedroom had a king size bed (very comfortable), TV, coffee machine, elaborate telephone and more cupboards and drawers than we could fill. There was a high quality clock/radio with Ipod dock that filled the room with music. The adjacent bathroom was very large, with bath, separate shower and two vanity basins. It was extremely well appointed with amenities even including a bath flower and pumice stone. The shower had a lot of jet nozzles but were never worked out how to use them - some instructions would have been handy.

The lounge had a big TV with DVD player, There were two sofas and an arm chair. All in all, the suite was excellent.

We had room service once, and were very pleased with the service, quality and presentation of the food. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant - it was very good, not exceptional but certainly nothing to complain about.

Checkout was quick and efficient. The concierge called a taxi for us and offered coffee while we waited.

We don't normally stay in luxury suites - this was a "splurge" for us. However we could get used to it very quickly. We were very pleased with our stay at the Palais de la Mediterranee, and would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: We had suite 705, which (from the floor plan) was twice the size of adjacent suites.

Beautiful hotel at the seaside of the Cote d'azur. Beautiful rooms but I would recommend staying on the 9th floor in order to enjoy a nice view. Staff was really nice, gave some good recommendations of places to visit. Room was clean, couldn't find anything wrong. Breakfast was delicious and organic which we really appreciated.
We can only recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Choose the 6th or 9th floor in order to enjoy a nice view.

Just finished a three night night stay. The hotel is situated directly across from the sea. The standard room was a nice size with a large clean bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The room also had a balcony. We didn't have a sea view. I would recommend trying to get a room with a view. Turn down service with a sweet treat was a nice added touch. Breakfast was ample with a large selection of pastries, cereals, hot foods and beverages. I had no problem with room service as some others have mentioned. The order was delivered within 30 minutes and the service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful especially the concierges and reception desk. However the doormen/valet were not helpful at opening doors. Several times we walked through the side door and they were talking to each other and never attempted to help with the door.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the train station. Close to the sightseeing bus and little train pickup points and near shopping and numerous restaurants.

I will recommend this hotel to anyone I know visiting Nice.

Stepping out of your hotel and greeting the sea really makes the hotel experience that much better. Was in Nice on business and stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is of course, luxury grade so my expectations were similarly raised. Overall I think it met my expectations. Rooms and facilities were all as expected, the only noticable flaw is the slightly snooty attitude of the service staff, which should be improved upon.
Be aware that city room views are often of surrounding neighbourhoods which are not very picturesque, a pity given the area you're in.
It's an easy 10-15min walk to the markets and the main shopping areas. You're practically surrounded by eateries, so if you're not in the mood for paying top dollar for your meals, you have any other choices nearby.
All in all a good stay.

I have just checked in today and so far we have experienced excellent reception, good bar service and wonderful restaurant....all while waiting for check in time since we arrived too early. The sea view room is as promised, comfortable with a great view. And reception kindly offered early check in but said the view would not be as nice as the room we reserved. We decided to wait and are happy we waited...we did not expect to have early check in and the offer was generous. The only negative is I've tried to order room service for the past hour, however, and it has been a colossal fail. The number first rang busy for 20 minutes but then I got through Halfway into the order I was told he was with another customer but would call me back. Thirty minutes later I tried calling again only to hear the busy signal. I gave up and popped a beer from the mini bar, too tired from the 15 hours of travel. But the room is nice and the beer is cold!

This is the second time we've stayed here, albeit the two visits separated by a few years.. Most of the hotels around the centre of Nice are pretty grim, and the Palais is a cut above. Nice is, quite simply, an expensive place, so you cant use the same price points as elsewhere.

The front of house staff are super friendly, those behind it less so, but still friendly. The room (deluxe sea view) is a good size and comfortable. They have some godawful rubberised mattress protector on the bed, but they removed it when we asked them. Good to see free wifi here. It would benefit from in room tea and coffee facilities; room service is ok but we'd rather be able to make our own drinks. Seems to be the rule that the more fancy the hotel, the fewer things you can do for yourself...

We didn't use the hotel bars and restaurants this time since there's so much choice within a short walk of the hotel. The railway station is a 15 min walk from the hotel and Monaco is a short train ride away, although ask the concierge for a timetable, especially at weekends, when there's a reduced service.

Overall we had another great stay here and we'd definitely come again.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for your review on TripAdvisor.

We were very pleased to welcome you for your second stay and that is a real pleasure to hear that you consider the Palais de la Mediterranee as one of the best hotels in Nice.

Concerning the coffee and tea facilities in your room, that is not a standard facility but only from the Executive room category. Our Room Service is at your entire disposal to answer to your request concerning tea and coffee especially.

We invite you to discover our restaurant and lounge bar during your future stay. We hope to welcome you back very soon and really thank you for your recommendation.

I like old I like modern.....you get the best of both worlds here plus a fantastic location for exploring the South of France......it's taken me a while to review as I stayed in the summer....but who couldn't be impressed with champagne service at the beach club. The rooms are amazing and even though due to the architecture of the building you can't sunbathe on some of the balconies you can certainly people watch. If you want a taste of French Chic stay here.
