“Good location but shabby and overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2011

Fist of all this hotel is in Nice and not Cannes as the address indicates on trip advisor. We visited Nice with my friend in September 2011 and chose this hotel for its location. The only good things I can tell about this hotel is that the location is good indeed and the students working at the reception desk are super nice and going out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible and make good recommendation for eating out and sightseeing. But the hotel itsel and rooms are just appalling. The paint was coming off the ceiling and walls, furniture was very old and bathroom was clogged and disgusting. The worst is that we didn't have hot water at all the last day of our stay. And all this for 150 USD a night! Very overpriced. Not recommended.

Came to this hotel, expecting it to be pretty shoddy for the price (18€ per night) but was amazing. Located in between Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani, we were really in the centre of all the action and was a perfect location from which to visit the carnival there! A+++

Have been to Nice a few times never stayed here before but as was going with my daughter for her 17th birthday the location seemed fab. Easy access old town, beach seconds away shopping/restaurants on your door step. Room was not the cleanest but beds/shower clean loved the 'frenchness' of the lift/rooms. Continental breakfast served in your room I really liked that some may prefer a dining room (which they do not have) staff friendly would definately go back for short break not sure I would want 2 weeks here though! Good point = fridge in room also kettle provided but no cups/coffee etc - take your own

Room Tip: ask for balcony

If you're going to Nice to shop and indulge in luxury, you will be disappointed by Paradis. However, if you're travelling on a budget, it is well worth it. Clean, comfortable, and centrally-located, it is ideal for the budget traveller.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights on the first stop of our European honeymoon and we were pleasantly surprised. We couldn't ask for a better location - steps from the beach and a less than 5 minute walk to the Old Town.

Our room was clean, simple and had a cute balcony. Every morning the staff brought a French breakfast to our room - the only downside was paying 6 Euros for essentially bread, croissants and crappy coffee (instant!)...but as we soon discovered that anywhere else in Nice you're going to pay 8 Euros for the same thing (though probably better coffee at a cafe).

Staff were friendly, but when we had questions about the area (restaurant recommendations, where to find a grocery store, etc) few could give us any answers, it seemed like they were all new to the area. We soon discovered on our own that the area around their sister hotel, the Meyerbeer, was a good place to go for groceries and cheap eats, though I would still recommend staying at Paradis over the Meyerbeer due to the fantastic location.

Nice was our first stop in France, after 8 days in the amazing Spain. We are 3 couples in our 20s from Bombay. The city was a disappointment to start with. We had had the most amazing drive from Marseilles to Nice, along the beatifully blue French Riviera and reach Nice at 7pm. For the next three hours... we were just hunting for parking space. The hotel was unhelpful - they didn't even direct us to a place where we could find parking.

So, some of us decided to check in while the rest hunted to parking space.

The rooms were awful... all three were different - one did not have an AC, another did not have and AC remote and the third did not have a double bed. They were also on different floors. The hotel has one scary cage-type lift, which does not go all the way to the top floor. The view wasn't much to write about, and the AC formed a pool of water in the room.

The rooms were generally grubby and the sheets weren't very clean. Only the loos looked recently refurbished.

Awesome location though - right on Galleries Lafayette and near the harbor/beach. Landmark is the Louis Vuitton store on Rue de Paradis.

The only highpoint was that they gave beach umbrellas and mats for us to take to the beach the next day. We checked out early in the morning, after battling it out for 2 nights.

We arrived only to find that they had moved the rest of our party (we had a group of a few adults traveling separately) to another hotel on arrival because they "Over booked", witch seems like a scam to move people to a even cheaper hotel. The other couples would not even stay in the other hotel because the rooms smelled really bad. We found that the room had a huge stain on the carpet, the shower was broken (the hose up to the head had a hole and most of the water shot out that, and the drain would only let water down little by little, flooding the shower area in less then a few minutes), the walls had old masking tape on them where some sort of mirror used to be, none of the lights in the bathroom worked (maybe on purpose to hide how dirty it was). We were told that was the only room available, and that we could not get a refund for the current night. They told us to come back the next day and they would give us a receipt for the refund of the other nights. We ended up finding a room available at another hotel, and just ate the cost of the one night there. When we came back the next day the owner was there who did not speak English, but kept telling the front desk person (who was very nice) that he would not give us a receipt. The owner they started threatening to call the police on us after we said that we were going to stay here until he gave us the receipt we were told we would get.

All in all the worst hotel I have ever visited in my life.
