“SUITED US JUST FINE.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

Clean, ideally located, good value for money. All staff friendly and helpful and fortunately for us speak English. Breakfast quite adequate and lunch bag a real bonus.
Our room was maintained immaculately - quite outstanding.
When places are so good there is not a lot to say, I would however have liked printed instructions on how to operate the egg boiler.
So there you are all I can complain about is that It took a while to work out how the egg boiler worked.

Room Tip: Rooms at back are quieter.

This Hotel is very clean and good value. For 1 euro you can get an express bus from the airport to the station and the hotel is 1 minute walk. Buy a 7 day travel card for l5 euros and buses, tram and the airport bus are included. You can also get to Cagnes-sur-Mere and Villefranche using this pass. Bus to Cannes and Monaco just 1 euro each way and the buses are on time. The tram is easy to use. Food disappointing (avoid Chez Freddy) and expensive. Monoprix very interesting. Travel by train into the mountains is expensive but worth the effort. Hey Norbert - comment ca va?

We stayed here Nov 19 for three nights. Great value, breakfast included in price. The best thing about the hotel is Yolanda at the front desk. If she recommends a restaurant take her advice, she knows all about the food in Nice . She is great source of information about all sorts of things in the city.

When we visit Nice, we always stay in this hotel. For us, is in a great location, close to the train station, to the tram, everything is in a walking distance. If you arrive by car, you have a public parking just in front with a special rate for the hotel guests. The area does not look very elegant, but it does not mean bad, we come back from dinner late and is always fine. About the hotel: Friendly and helpful staff, special thanks to Norbert (we were happy to see him again), good and complete breakfast, the rooms and bathrooms are always very clean, bed confortable.

After reading some of the reviews about this hotel I was a little worried about it being in an undesirable area. There were 4 of us and we never felt in danger. The location to the train station and tram were great. The room was small but clean and who is in their room for any length of time anyway? Breakfast was good. Nothing special but certainly all you need.
Front desk, Norbert, very helpful. My only complaint would be that there appeared to be nowhere near the hotel to eat or have a drink before you go back to the hotel for the night. Everything seemed shut up tight. If I was to go to Nice again I would consider staying closer to the sea.But certainly have no complaints about this hotel!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking time in writing an advise. Thank you also for the special mention reguarding Norbert, which is in fact very pleasant with all the guests, taking time in explaining the Hotel itself as well as the places of interest.

Our property is situated in the center, but it is true that to have a drink after dinner you need to walk a 10-15mn to find some bar areas. We have several restaurants closer to the hotel in which you may not have only a drink.

We are glad that you appreciated the cleanliness of our room and our Breakfast.
Best regards

This hotel is ideal for exploring Nice and its environs. It is close to the station and tram stops and so convenient. The breakfast is excellent and the surroundings are not as seedy as other reviewers would have you believe. If two cinemas and a couple of tired looking prostitutes constitutes a red light district, there must be many more in the world than I thought existed. the rooms are clean and comfy. You get what you pay for and in this case it is great value for money!

From Paris, we took the train to Nice, and Best Western Hotel Rivera is where we stayed for four days. Below is the breakdown of their strengths and weaknesses:

The Good:
1. The location is near the Nice Ville train station. You take a right as you exit the station and walk about four blocks to get to the hotel.
2. Breakfast is OK. Selection includes cold cuts, croissant, toast, cereals, sweet bread, egg, jam, yogurt, coffee and lots of juices
3. They give you a lunch bag that includes a sandwich, a bottle of water, and a small bag of chips. I find this very nice of them.
4. If you don't feel like walking to the supermarket a four blocks away, there's a vending machine at the lobby that sell chocolates, soda, juice and water for two Euros a piece.
5. The guy behind the counter is pretty straightforward. Even now, I can still recall his line: "...For this price, you get a free lunch bag. For this price, you get complimentary breakfast which is served at the room behind you. For this price, you get a welcome drink which you can claim anytime when you present me this card...."

The Not So Good:
1. The location isn't where all the action is. You have a walk back to the train station to get to the city's main street (Ave. Jean Medecin). In fact, it seems to be in a seedy neighborhood - two sex shops on the same street, a corner stinks of urine, the hotel locks up late at night; guests need to ring the doorbell and someone will open for them.
2. Room is small (603). Bed is small. Bathroom size is just OK.
3. Free Wifi BUT signal on our first night was weak. It improved when we got back from our tour, but was slow.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking your time to write an advise. We thank you for notifying that our Reception staff takes time to inform our guests about all the complimentary offers included in their room rate: Buffet Breakfast, welcome drink as well as a lunch box each day to take away. we have had a bad wifi connexion the past days due to a technical problem and would like to apologize for the inconvenience; We are taking care of this problem with an webmaster in order to solve it at soonest.
With regards to the Hotel location, we are in fact at 2mn walk form the main train station of Nice, which offers connexions to the main costal and touristic cities such as Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Menton..; The main Avenue and shopping area of Nice is situated at just 10mn walking distance. With regards to the adult shops that you might cross when walking to this Avenue we may unfotunately not help in any change. As in any large streets, we ask our Night staff to lock the door from 11pm and inform the guest to ring at night. The night receptionnist is available all night to open the door or help our guests in any way.
With regards to our room size, they are actually in the average size of rooms in 3* hotels in the center of Nice. Best Regards.
