“Old Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

Quaint antique market on during our stay and interesting bars and cafes. Easy to walk to from our hotel in Victor Hugo Avenue and clearly a popular haunt in Nice

“Magical at night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

This area is just off the Rue des Ponchettes. Once you see the outdoor market tents - and hopefully before they start breaking down at 3PM - head North into this central artery of shops, stands, patisseries, pubs and restaurants. The narrow, winding cobbled streets are densely packed with old world charm. The smells and scents from the eateries are so tempting, so definitely indulge in a pastry or a socca. I found some shops to be a bit pricey but others were fine. Tourist heaven for knick-knacks and bric-a-brac. Also good for scarves, trainers, and hipster duds.

At night the streets are lit up with overhung chandeliers and spots reaching towards the rooftops. Because the streets are so narrow, certain catacombs feel closed in, almost like Diagon Alley from Harry Potter. (Yep, I'm a nerd). True eye candy as everything looks glowy and rich. A photographer's dream at night!

Just an FYI, most locals book meal reservations. Walk-ins are okay but restaurants typically don't start dinner service until after 7:00/7:30. As you move closer to the promenade there are more 'uninterrupted' services for early birds.

Definitely spend time here during the day and night.

“The best part if Nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

Wonderful narrow streets lined with beautiful old buildings and little shops. We rented a flat at the quieter north end. Everything you need is just a few steps away. Great food galore.

“Best Part of Nice!! Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Old Nice is absolutely beautiful. Narrow cobblestone streets, golden/yellow buildings, tons of outdoors cafes and restaurants. Must check out Cours Saleya flower market. This is what you picture when you think of French Riviera.
